It's BS that coaches are not allowed to argue a call. It's part of baseball.
To what end? Like the ump is just going to say, "oh you're right, nevermind bros, that was a ball"?
At some point, enough is enough.
And why did Schnall decide the bottom of the 1st inning was the time to argue over THREE pitches?! All of you white knighting for this guy are insane.
The ump sucked, but Schnall acted like a clown and got what he deserved. And he proved it in the post game with his "Own It" followed by a "but this is everyone else's fault".

Would be one thing if he came out calmly and got to the ump and put his hands behind his back and calmly asked where did you see those. Still not right but with calm and respectful approach he may have stayed in. When you come out aggressive like a maniac it will not go in your favor then and even if he let him stay in, does a coach really think that is gonna help the future calls you get in the game?

I didn’t think the officiating was bad

The thing that pissed me off the most is how many idiots were saying “it’s the 1st inning you have to give him a warning!!!!” Then both the Coastal coach and NCAA come out and say he was giving a warning and continued yapping so he got tossed and then the narrative changes how he still should not have been tossed.
Idiots echoed that because the damn Coastal Cocks loving announcers were saying it. ESPN should investigate those bafoons for their lack of knowledge and professionalism.

where are the expectations for a coaching staff in a championship game to not have a rec league style meltdown over the strike zone in the very first inning?
Only 10 pitches in, he was bowing up and attempting to challenge some perceived disrespect. Was he insinuating the ump was calling the strike zone in favor of LSU? He is doubling down on stupid. His suggestion that they need to be trained better to handle imbeciles like him is ludicrous. Read the rule book and know your limitations. Unlike him, these guys weren't rookies.
Key factors in the selection of CWS umpires include:
Evaluations: Umpires are graded after each game, and teams submit reports on each series, providing feedback for evaluation.
Formal Nominations: A formal nomination process is crucial.
Experience: CWS umpires often have extensive experience, including previous CWS assignments and involvement in other postseason tournaments.
Performance: The selection committee focuses on choosing the best ball and strike umpires, as reflected in high accuracy rates.
National Oversight: The NCAA National Coordinator of Baseball Umpires helps identify, train, select, and evaluate umpires for the Division I Baseball Championship, including the CWS.

If only the ump had known that he was 48 years old. He wouldn’t have shooshed him and we all live happily ever after.

And this is part of the reason we have a national shortage of young umpires. It's so bad that there are some places where JV HS games only get a single umpire (even some small school varsity games only get a single).
Little Johnny's step dad coaching his 13u team argues every close call because he thinks "it's part of baseball". The new-ish umpire doing the game realizes that the $50 he's getting for being yelled out for two hours isn't worth it.

I just wonder if the CC Coach could have called a timeout and gently appealed to the umps. It seems like Johnson has done so on a number of occasions.

The problem is the old guard won't let new blood in more than anything Little Johnnie's Step Dad does. Those candy assed Umps need to toughen up and pay attention.

As I pointed out in a previous thread the rule states that if a coach or player argues balls and strikes and is given a warning then if he continues to argue balls and strikes he “SHALL” be ejected. The umps gave him multiple warnings. Not even close to being a bad call.

The fact that umps are stupid doesn't excuse the douchebags behavior. Him, his butt for brains assistant, and the whole stupid team got exactly what they deserved.

That great in some portions of society but that’s not how baseball works. The coach has been apart of the sport all his life. He knows how this works. He would’ve coached the game if he didn’t tell the ump “ you missed 3 pitches” 3 times. On the 3rd he got tossed. As far as the “shooing”…. Don’t care how old you are, the ump didn’t want to talk about it right then. Stay in the dugout and between innings ask questions.

Do you think targeting should be called in the national championship knowing they will be ejected? Everyone knows what’s targeting and what’s not. So if a guy by the letter of the law commits targeting should the officials say “well it’s the first quarter we won’t call it this time.” Hell no. Nor should it matter here.

Why don’t you try being an ump and see how easy it is?
The entire issue with society today is a lack of respect for authority. Umpires don’t write the rules. They enforce what is written and overall do a damn good job considering. I bet they miss less than 3% of all calls.

Coach Rage should have zipped it and responded accordingly when he was shooed.
But… a grown man shooed him back to the dugout.

It blows my mind how many "baseball fans" do not know the proper name for baseball officials.

Saw this and thought it was appropriate no one is above getting tossed

Two Scenarios. Assistant coach acted like a bigger idiot than the head coach.
1. Let's just agree that the head coach should have been ejected. At the very least, the idiot assistant coach can't get tossed too.
2. They should have given the coach more leeway. At the very least, the idiot assistant coach has to keep his mouth shut and remain out of the situation. Let the head coach handle it.
A complete comedy of errors on coastal part.
