NCAA should argue that Ole Miss is a member program and the fact that Chambliss agreed to play for them is an agreement to follow the rules set by the governing body that the members agreed to via conference commissioners.

That was my first thought--the judge sure looks like Colonel Sanders of KFC fame.

Ncaa decisions aren't home cooking. Now when local Judge rules on the 12th, you'll see the buffet menu for Ole Miss.

There are players entering their 6th year this season. TJ Finley is entering his SEVENTH. Chambliss has only actually played for 3 years. Other than the fact that it's Ole Miss and that we hate the Rebels, I really don't see what the big deal is.
You clearly do not understand the rules either, how redshirts work, and how Covid year eligibility was issued either.

If a judge allows him to play will every school start doing this? Seems like it will set a precedent.

Tbh, im all for him playing another year if some type of year long injury that prevented him from playing the whole season. However, tonsillitis? Thats fricking wild. My son and daughter both had it and were back to school the next week. The real story is he lost his chance at a starting position and opted out of dressing. No appeal then not until last season when someone indoctrinated him so.

He absolutely is gonna get some home cooking in state court.
his claim is laughably bad. there is just no argument he is likely to succeed on merits.

He didn’t lose something he didn’t have to begin with. He was a redshirt freshman stuck on the depth charts behind two QBs who each had 1500+ total yards that season on the way to a national title. The coaches said he didn’t play because of his stage of development and the competitive needs of the team. He only had 38 pass attempts the next season, so that tells you all you need to know about how much illness really affected his playing time.

Surprised that he doesn’t want to go in the NFL draft.
Is his draft grade low?

So, your position is that players should just have an unlimited number of redshirt seasons?

I think this could be a landmark case that would destroy the NCAA. There is literally no purpose they serve if a single redneck judge can overturn a ruling of theirs. At this point, what does the NCAA do other than just provide the national title game venue?

Why are people forgetting the fact this has to do with the rules being different at the time in division II. Division II didn’t a red shirt rule in place the year that he is trying to get one. He is wanting them to give him a red shirt retroactively to a year when there was no red shirt rule. Any judge with any integrity would tell him to pound sand.

That isn't what is happening. He got a redshirt his first year. He is trying to say he should have gotten a Medical rs retroactively for his 2nd year. He had tonsillitis or whatever, issue is he still practiced and got beat out for the position.
If he wins, then it really opens up the idea of multiple redshirts for not winning a position. I had a cold, medical redshirt.

I don’t care about that prideful beat them with him stuff. I would rather Chambliss go pro and see Ole Miss melt.
I expect the judge who went to Ole Miss will show bias in his ruling. I still don’t see how that’s even allowed.

If they cheat and let him play I hope he tears his acl the first play. Would be perfect karma

Shifty 5 years to play 4. Doesn't matter if you actually play except for 1 RS year.
