What does the law say?
That it's no longer a crime. I get a receipt with my weed and edibles now, cause I buy from a legit business that's in a shopping center next door to Little Caesars. Never thought I'd see this day in Louisiana, but luckily, here we are. Time for the compliance dept to catch up.

What’s BAMA’s policy. That’s what ours should be.

I wouldn’t care if they sold fentanyl at Circle K. I can assure you that I am more progressive on this issue than 99 percent of the population.
Considering you use words like "marijuana" and "dope heads" I'm guessing you don't partake. And since half the country partakes these days, I can guarantee you're not more progressive on this issue than 99% of the population.

Testing for recreational drugs is left entirely up to the school. LSU technically doesn’t have to test at all and certainly doesn’t have to punish.
Consider this, LSU prescribes it’s players opioids for injuries likely weekly. We also know LSU players drink alcohol and use tobacco. If you’re cool with all of that but not marijuana, you are a dinosaur.
LSU should NEVER have a player leave for another SEC school for antiquated drug testing policies. Period.

What a stupid take. I don’t do a lot of things that I support being legal.
Participating in an activity has nothing to do with the belief that it should be legal.
The “dope heads” comment was a joke, but last I checked “marijuana” is the actual name.
I support the legalization of all drugs, even hard drugs like heroin.
What percentage of the population do think agrees with that?

Agreed. We should treat it exactly the same as players caught smoking tobacco, since it's as easy and legal to buy as cigarettes now.

I have heard that Woodward has made changes needed. I don’t think it will be a big issue going forward.

Your idea of "supporting" the legalization is not being opposed to it. The people who partake are actually advocates. You don't partake, therefore You don't really have a dog in the fight.
You just don't agree with it being illegal, which luckily it isn't now.
You can call my take stupid and ill call your statement that you're "more progressive than 99% of the population" hyperbolic at best.

Honestly, I don’t think we will be recruiting droves of pot heads and stoners.

Lay off the dope, bro. You sound like a moron.

OK, so this is my understanding of how things are.
The NCAA does not really have a marijuana policy other than to say that they have to approve your policy and expect you to follow your written policy regarding testing and consequences.
LSU has an antiquated policy.
In order to update said policy they have to get approval of the new policy from the NCAA.
All of this is controlled by the compliance department, the head of which reports to the AD.
Scott Woodward, not Brian Kelly, is the person who can get the compliance department to do this.
Not sure if that is all correct but that is my understanding.

I would rather the players smoke weed than get hooked on opioids

LSU needs to flex their control of the state legislature and get weed legalized, so its not an issue. Instead, they are flexing to keep control of medical weed production.

That doesn’t have anything to do with it.
Just because it’s legal, doesn’t mean LSU has to allow it.

Technically this is true. But ask yourself if Saban simply says welp, it’s out of my control! The answer is no.

Well, sure. But he doesn't tell the compliance guy to do that, he tells the AD who says "Yes Mr. Saban".
