The "Assembly Center" used to ROCK as FRICK back in the late 70's and 80's.
I was lucky and got to play in Basketball Band in the totally awesome 80 & 81 seasons!
It's hard to imagine and describe what the AC was like back then if you weren't there.
Full to the Brim.
Student section was on the sidelines and jam packed full from the bottom row all the way to the top!
It was the equal of Football in excitement. anticipation and energy!
Students camped out on the AC ramps to get in line for a good seat. (No student tickets back then; you got in to all LSU Athletic events with your ID Card. First come, first served)
SCALES and Macklin dunks were worth the wait.
Dwayne Scales. Rudy Macklin. Ethan Martin. Willie Sims. Wayne SIms. Greg Cook. Jordy Hulltberg. Howard Carter and Johnny Jones are the players I remember. (And student section favorite FLOYD FLOYD FLOYD Bailey coming off the bench in the last few minutes when we had a big lead)
Coaches were Dale Brown with Assistants Art Tolis, Rob Abernathy and Jerry Huckaby.
It was a scene man!
SO FAR AWAY from what is there now.

How much are YOU contributing to the buyout?”
Just shut up about this!
I think LSU made a very loud, and clear, statement when they fired Kelly, with his massive buyout, and subsequently, hired Lane, with a huge contract, that they will do whatever it takes to build a winner.
If LSU wants to win at men’s basketball, they will. If they don’t, they won’t.

Very fun today at the PMAC. Great hustle by the girls. Awesome win!

No. Some show up winners or not.

the sweet 16 season had the PMAC rocking under CWW. The upset vs. Tennessee with tremont out and Smart starting was a big W and there wasn't an empty seat in the place.

So every fan base is fair weather?
No. Some show up winners or not.
So can you provide us with examples of this happening at colleges that are not competitive for 4 years in their sport?

Ruined by peeping Tom George Eames ……. But more importantly I believe Dan Radikovich when early 90s (post Shaq but Livingston / Henderson era …. Decided to put the press row IN FRONT of the student section… which at the time was on the sideline in primo seating. …. So now you have an elevated section w 2-3 rows of press tables and the students moved further up and away from the floor….. HORRIBLE ……. Soon to be followed by piss poor play and end of Dale era … never the same since

Nebraska has been garbage for the last 10 years and every single home game has been a sell-out.

So will almost any fan base. Sounds pretty fairweather and not a compliment to the fan base.
It's the same across all industries. We all support good restaurants and go to good movies (back when going to movies was a thing.)
If a restaurant has bad food or bad service, nobody goes. If a movie is bad, nobody goes.
Same with sports. If a product is bad, nobody wants to go see it. And merely because the team wears P&G isn't enough to overcome that basic premise.

In 2021 Nebraska had an average attendance of 40k in an 89000 capacity stadium.

team was horrible for Livingston Henderson era.
Will Wade had some big time home games. The Tennesse home game was a sell out for sure! The Vandy game when LSU hung the SEC championship banner was packed!

I'm good with getting another coach. Just not Wade's street ball arse
People consistently complained about Wade's offense but here's how his teams finished in the SEC in points per game:
17-18: 77.5 (3rd)
18-19: 80.4 (2nd)
19-20: 80.5 (2nd)
20-21: 81.8 (1st)
21-22: 72.6 (7th) - this was the year our defense was dominant. 2nd in SEC.
So, call it street ball if you'd like. Wade's teams put up points.

A) LSU fans want a winner.
B) Doesn't mean all basketball fans want Wade back. McMahon has had plenty of time, but just can't seem to get it done here. Time to find someone who can win and fill the seats.

The game also had an average of 1.7 million views, with a maximum 2.3 million views......but "nobody watches womens badketball".
Apparently people actually DO watch WBB.
