Just watched the post game hoping they’d ask Jay about it, but they didn’t

He probably wouldn’t have gave an answer anyway

Noot, Cowan, and Schmidt have started previously and haven’t pitched yet

Others that haven’t pitched are Rizy, Ricken, Paz that I’d say have starter potential

I think it’s either Schmidt or Noot unless Jay wants to see what Paz or Ricken can do with a leash

Schmidt

Jay said previously he didn’t announce a starter cause UCF didn’t.

Ah I missed that. I thought the TBA was because he wanted to see how the weekend played out

I can see if it was the SECT or a Regional or a game in the CWS but its so early in the year that he don't need a TBA.

People who are really good at what they do develop the habit of doing things the same way every time unless there is an advantage to varying. Jay is good at what he does. There may be little advantage to doing a TBA now, but there is absolutely no advantage to announcing your starter if the other team is not, so stick to what you would do in the biggest games even now.

CJJ has repeatedly said he coaches to win each game. Taking that to heart, when he adds that he does not want to give a team any competitive edge, specially re stating pitching, he's trying to win that game that day. Nuts how many here think they know more than the 2-time National Coach of the year. He uses even the smallest details to win each game.

What's the advantage in the 8th game of the year when you are trying to develop pitchers especially a guy like Schmidt who you want to earn a weekend starting spot? There should be no TBA it should be Schmidt and no TBA.

Every coach wants to win each game i get it but last year and this year he throws a different lineup out there to give everybody a shot and to see who can perform and who cant. I get that and i'm on board with it but the starting pitching you shouldn't have a TBA in the 8th game of the year. A SECT game yea i get it 100%. A CWS game i get it but not a TBA in February.

Only due to the TBA listed back on Thursday (Wednesday maybe?)

I want Schmidt to start. He needs every bit of experience he can get and we should want that too. He has the stuff to be a legit 7-8 shut out kind of arm. He just needs the confidence in himself that he is that guy. Smoking an OOC lineup can help with that

My OP wasn’t asking for someone new rather than just seeing If someone else knew why Schmidt wasn’t announced and instead TBA was listed
