UCLA, Arizona, Oregon State, Cal, Stanford, Washington and Arizona State have all made the CWS the past 10 years. No, the Pac 10 is not as good as the SEC, but they are, at worst, the 3rd best baseball conference on average.

If it can’t be McDonnell I’d rather it be Godwin. I think Johnson is a great coach but I don’t know if he’ll be able to recruit the south.

LSU can recruit the South on name. His West coast connections could be used as we’re already picking up a few players out there, and his juco contacts out there would be a plus. The question would be can he continue to recruit nationally, the Midwest and North specifically, to get difference makers.

McDonnell nor Balkich really didn’t seem to get much traction
I can only think on McDonnell they could tell he’s a guy that’s good where he’s at and is looking for a leverage play

I agree. This Johnson hire just won’t be exciting. It feels like Paul Mainieri 2.0. It’s just meh

Probably because in his 11 full seasons as a HC, he's cracked 40 wins only twice.
