Love Guidry in his current role. Gives him a chance to affect two games in a weekend if it comes to it.

Guidry is not a starter
-Evans had 18 whiffs over 88 pitches. If you are making the point that Evans doesnt have the stuff, then i know you have no idea what this means. Just take my word that it is an elite number.
-had two bogus walks
-fielding errors that led to runs .

Evans is extending but he just doesn’t have the stuff he had last year in relief.

I get the thinking, but also like sticking with Evans, Guidry combo on Fridays. I like our chances in any series where Cooper Moore is our Saturday guy. I like giving Evans more rope at this point of the season.

Naw, he fits so well into that extended relief slot
Also, I think he has potential closer stuff as well. I think he is too important in that long relief/game closer spot
You will need tht guy to bring in, you really need more than one of those guys. Hopefully Sheerin can slide into that extended relief/closer spot as well. These guys become so much more important when you don’t have a bonadfide ace
My hope is that we let these 2 solidify the bullpen and let the rest battle for starting. I think Evans and Schmidt have the stuff to be plenty serviceable as starters, just need to get some time to settle in to the role like eyanson last season
We have a lot of depth in the pen for situational pitching and 1-2 innings of help. We need guys like Cowan and Rizy to get it together and be able to come in and stop the bleeding and set us up for the close
This. If Cowan returns to form, we will be tough to beat in a series. Rizy is looking good. And Reagan Ricken looks like a big leaguer.

Not just yet. I think Evans is coming around. But besides that, Guidry is valuable as a late reliever because he is not just a ninth inning closer. He can come in to get you out of a jam and is capable of giving you 2-3 innings of shutdown relief.

Seems to be well suited for his current role. His personality and level of excitement is not necessarily great for a starter. Could see him fatiguing early as a starter

No, you need a dawg out of the bullpen that can give you 3-5 innings if needed, and right now, Guidry seems to fit that role.

Moore-Friday
Evans- Saturday
Schmidt-Sunday
Maybe moving Evans to Saturday calms him down watching the first night. Plus Moore has alot more experience at being a starter.

If Cowan returns to the form he had pre A&M last year, you have 2 guys in Guidry and Cowan that can essentially be used for 3 innings. Being able to hand a game off to someone you trust in 2 games in a weekend bodes extremely well for this seasons outlook.
Add in the other bullpen pieces and you can really do some damage.

Evans did fine last night. I wouldn't make any changes right now.

Evans pitched a great game and is extending. If not for a shitty zone and subpar defense I dont think he gives up 2.
I don't think I have ever seen an umpire as crappy as the one last night. Jeff Head was probably tired of doing mop up duty/overturning awful calls for that guy and Jay probably wanted to put a boot up his arse after no balks were called on the pitcher.

If he keeps pitching like this after he is back to full strength and pitch count, I can definitely see him as a weekend starter.
