They are now 4-3 in Q1 games. Their overall SOS is ok (47), but not great.
I understand that they can’t do much about their conf, but that shouldn’t be overlooked either. Big 12, SEC, ACC teams have to slug it out in conf play for 2 months. Gonzaga gets to take a vacation from Non-Conf play
They are a very good team. But you shouldn’t get a HUGE benefit from kicking the shite out of a bunch of teams who won’t even sniff the NCAAT. Their margin for error is and should be slim. Otherwise, don’t penalize the power conf teams for playing crappy OOC schedules

Gonzaga is still going to get a #1 seed regardless of what happens.
So instead if the #1 overall they'll fall behind Virginia. Watch some basketball outside of LSU.

Nah. They lost to UNC and Tenn. They did beat Duke by 2 though.
They have a high NET because they blew out a relatively weak schedule (SOS 47). LSU's SOS is 20 and will get higher by tourney's end.
Comparison of Gonzaga to LSU:
Gonzaga (vs * 1-2 (Duke-W, UNC-L, Tenn-L), Q1 4-3, Q2 6-0, SOS 47)
LSU (vs * 2-0 (Kentucky-W, Tenn-W), Q1 9-2, Q2 7-3 (Fla/33, Ark/64, Ok St/82), SOS 20)

Do you guys not know Gonzaga beat Saint Mary’s by 50 and 30 earlier this year. They just had a bad game. I hate to say this as a LSU fan but they would beat the brakes off of us.

Gonzaga’s schedule is a joke. They’re propped up by offensive and defensive efficiency numbers which NET uses. Which Mark Few lobbied for and got put in because he knew Gonzaga plays a shitty schedule and needed a boost.

Gonzaga did beat that same St. Mary’s team twice in the regular season. Neither game was close and in one game they won by almost 50. I think Gonzaga is safe for the 1 seed.

I used to like Dickie V but he revealed himself as a true hypocrite. I have a theory we're all hypocrites to one degree or the other but in his line of work you need to manage that and not only did he not he revealed it to be a dregree of hypocrisy worse than most.

Gonzaga is likely the most overrated team in the country. They would NOT have a 30-3 record playing a full season in the SEC, ACC and/or Big Ten. I would love to see LSU as the #2 or #3 in their bracket.

You may very well be right. But I think the question is "why should they be considered safe?"
While every power conf. team esstianlly has to accomplish the remarkable feat of playing a tough OOC schedule and thoroughly dominating a tough conf. schedule, Gonzaga seems to get a pass because "they can't do anything about their conf. being weak."
IMO, that's hypocrisy. If you compare the 10-12 teams who could argue for a #1 seed, you see that Gonzaga's resume is one of the weakest. Their overall SOS is on the lower end of the spectrum AND every other contender has at least double the Q1 wins. Sure you could argue that Gonzaga would have more Q1 wins if they played in a conference that provided them with more opportunity. However, the reality is they don't.

They absolutely deserve to be a #1 seed. Their other 2 losses were to UNC and Tennessee in December. They are the #1 team in the polls, you think there are 4 teams that deserve to be ahead of them?
