Cowan if hes on could pitch the whole game,or he could go for most of the game and close with evans or shores for an inning each and they would be good to go for the next game for an inning or two.

There’s a chance Jay wants to save Cowan for if we play arky again. He did really well against them earlier in the season

Yeah that's very unlikely to happen

I don't think LSU has the luxury of going all in tomorrow if you don't have to.

Having said that, if Evans were to take the ball, go 6 and win, what would be your plan for the next 2 games?

I think we have less of a luxury of falling into the losers bracket. If we win, we only need to worry about winning the next game, and then we could reset the rotation for the finals. If you win this game and lose Wednesday, you go back to Anderson on 4 days rest, Thursday, just like we did with Skenes two years ago. It's not ideal, but this is the situation we are in now, and it is imperative not to lose this game. So, I'd love to save Evans, but we can't afford to screw around trying to hold him out.

Maybe Jay runs Shores out there and gives him a very short leash to see if he's good Shores, or bad Shores, and just plays it an inning at a time with him, and maybe we extend out to a big lead and don't have to use Evans. If so, great. But I'd be surprised if anyone but Evans came out to start the 4th inning.

Shores, Noot, Williams tomorrow; Wholestaff the next day. And Anderson could give you 5 or 6 if we are desperate. It’s not pretty, but losing 55% of Eyanson for the bracket is a blow.

Ucla has like 6 lefties in their lineup. Theyll go to cooper and hopefully he gives them some length to get it to shores/evans, if not, theyll pull him early and go to evans

I think he said that because of the weather forecast.

Yes, it's going to rain the majority of the evening and night in Omaha. And that's not including the day while there is Louisville/Oregon State.

When was the last time Cowan was "on"?

This is where I'm at today as well. Go with Cooper Williams with a short leash. If he is on, we might get 2-3 innings out of him, or more. If not, have someone ready to go short notice. It is a gamble, and you gotta win to move on.....but if the goal is a championship sometimes you have to gamble and not throw it all in too early.

when has he been on? You can't risk it here with Cowan IMO. I get having a short leash....but damage can be done with only 2 or 3 batters.

I think you go out of the gate with either Williams or Shores, and have noot on standby. Hopefully one of williams or shores can give us multiple innings, if not both, and we extend the lead.

This was a very bad break for us, basically wasting 3-4 more innings of Eyanson...while they were struggling to keep us off the bases.

Getting eliminated on Tuesday sucks. It is what it is. Shouldn't have bunted.

I’d prefer not to see Evans. I’d try like hell to keep him for game 3.

When LSU has won it, they have had huge performances from unexpected pitchers, see Ack in 2023.

I am fine with starting Cooper Williams here but I would go with Evans. For 2 reasons:

1. Simply throw your best to win this one
2, We will need Cooper Williams to throw extended innings in this tournament. If you pitch him now, it will be on a short leash. If he pitches next game instead you will be giving him a real chance to fight through things and extend because it will then be our best option.

Arkansas game 5 weeks ago. But he’s only pitched twice since then.

LSU is 6-1 all time at winning the CWS when starting 2-0. LSU is 1-11 all time in winning the CWS if losing either of the first two games.

Winning game 2 is more important than “saving Evans for game 3”.

Go all out to win today!

We still need 4-5 more runs to win this, at least Cowan avoids free passes.
