Stop. Don’t you know that LSU hasn’t faced nearly as much adversity as Clemson. They’re battle tested and we aren’t.

That linebacker getting ejected was a huge help to. Guy is an animal.

It would have been 1st and Goal from the 9 with LSU looking to go up 10 even without the targeting.

Venables certainly threw in some good schemes and blitzes to try to stop the tsunami. But, after all was said and done, 42 points and over 600 yards of offense. Clemson was most effective when we were backed up to the goal line and when we bunched the formation. Several times they had more people blitzing than we had blocking. Even with all this, we could have had more points except for a few miscues including drops and penalties.

The stats coming into the game against ACC competition are not comparable to LSU playing SEC West competition (plus Florida and Georgia).

Also, the pundits should have seen how Ohio State could and maybe should have beaten Clemson two weeks ago. Clemson couldn't really stop Ohio State from putting up a lot of yards and some points. Some questionable officiating, injury to RB, and Ohio State miscues helped Clemson.

It was a really good scheme.

I think if Joe and Brady were coming back in 2020, a lot of teams would try this to stop LSU.

LSU figures it out eventually, but it does slow us down a bit.

This had no effect at all. We scored on the very next snap on a play to the TE that happened so fast the LB would have had no chance to affect it. That made the score 35-25, and Clemson never scored again.

I believe this will be the future of defenses to stop or at least slow down these pro style passing offenses. The key is to take away the big play pass potential and establishing some pass rush, making the offense run the ball shortening the time on the clock, and having the lead in the game at the same time.

Certainly it was challenging. But it didn’t help that LSU virtually abandoned the running game. AU was the first to run that defense and CEH went to work. Now, Clemson’s punter was the player of the 1st half for them pinning LSU in deep.

At the end of the day thought it really doesn’t matter. LSU had 5 guys who were favorable one on one match up. It was just a matter of the defense deciding which of those five they want to get beaten by. Clemson decided they wanted to get torched by Chase

They were daring us to run and we still threw it everywhere.
