He is automatic. Almost doesn’t even make it interesting.

He dislocated his shoulder but is fine! I’m his mom

Avery’s Mom posts here, and she said he was ok.

He may be the "best kicker on the planet". But according to the people who select the Lou Groza award winner he's not one of the best three kickers in the country.
Finalist:
Jose Borregales, Miami
Jake Oldroyd, BYU
Will Reichard, Alabama
I'm convinced the people responsible for choosing the winners of these awards don't actually watch the games. Or follow college football.
The BYU and Alabama kickers are perfect on the season...they also attempted 8 and 9 (respectively) LESS FG's than York.
York also has as many 50+ makes as the three finalist COMBINED. Alabama's kicker has made a grand total of THREE (3) kicks of 40+ yards all season. He's essentially a finalist for best kicker in the country because he was really good at making extra points and the easiest of kicks. Exactly ZERO coming in a pressure situation
Lest you think this is just my LSU bias showing, the fact that Delpit won the Thorpe award LAST season (as opposed to 2018 when he actually deserved it) was equally as dumb and illogical

York had a historically great season this year. Arguably a top 3 season this decade. So yea it’s bullshite

You can put 3 points on the board 85.71% of the time before the ball is kicked.

I am beginning to think this is an unofficial career award. I could not figure out how Blankenship won it last year after his personal worst season and missing key clutch time FG attempts. He had a good career resume though.

That’s what I was thinking too but the Bama kicker being nominated doesn’t make any sense from that perspective. Except Bama bias. That’s the only explanation. Dude made 1 relatively short fg a game. Wow. Amazing

Cade won 1st team All SEC. The BAMA guy didn’t even win 2nd team.
