Probably a Grade II tear which is usually a month or so of rest and rehab to fully heal.

I wonder if he keep reinjuring himself? If he is playing right now that means he was diagnosed with a grade I or II tear. The risk with playing is reinjury and extending the healing time.

Then BK should be fired for leaving us with a roster where a crippled, non-serviceable QB is “the best we’ve got.”

That's dumb.

MVB shoulda played the last 2 games while nuss rested.

woulda had 4 weeks of rest instead of 2 while compromising the season.

This was probably the correct way to handle it in hindsight, if he’s injured.

Another option was sitting after Clemson and getting back for OM. If MVB was going to make a start I’d prefer it be at home.

he rolled the dice and lost. MVB woulda given us a better shot at beating OM.

Not sure I buy that, but it couldn’t have been much worse.

disastrous management by CBK.

Can’t really argue with this.

I get where he's coming from in wanting to play, but he's hurting his team and his draft stock. He should have sat out and either come back later in the season or applied for a medical redshirt.

This is also where BK, Sloan and his own father should step in and give him good advice. He's not thinking about the long term.

He should have sat period. That's on Kelly.

He has a torn oblique. Has had this since fall camp at least. Recovery time on this surgery is 3-4 months. They were hoping it would heal up enough to only require a shot and finish healing this week and next. I am not sure if that will be the case but it is obvious he hasnt been himself and this is why. This isnt a guess, it is on good authority or I wouldnt put it out there.

I said it before and I’ll say again, Nuss and staff figured he could just dink and dunk teams to score 24-30pts with only taking 1 or 2 deep shots a game. And that would be no issue bc the defense would hold every team in check. Unfortunately, they are struggling to score 18pts (removing SLU).

That injury doesn’t get better over a bye week!

Best thing to do is announce he’s shutting down for surgery and rehab for draft.

Only issue is why not sit for SLU?

Seems very clear why. BK wants a championship badly and put some of his own money up for this team. He wants to win even at the expense of his player's health/career. He's not admitting it now because it's just generally a bad look for him.

tbh, I believe every word of this because BK seems like the person to do this. He's not likable in the slightest.

Again if this is true, it really boggles the mind. Maybe if we had a dominant OL and running game, I could see taking this gamble and hoping you’d only need him to make a few plays a game to get by….that’s not the case though. So putting an injured QB that was already statue back there behind a bad OL, and now can’t throw for shite is just an unfathomably stupid call.

Kelly is supposed to be smarter than the previous coach but I’m beginning to have my doubts after this debacle.

So donors have donated record amounts of money to the program's NIL funding only to have Brian Kelly be forced to play an injured quarterback because he doesn't trust the backup, who has lots of SEC starting experience?

BK sold him on making a championship run this season.

This is why BK is sticking with Nuss! They are choosing loyalty over everything.

If he's hurt and the hurt version of him is still better than the backup, why is the back up on the team? It seems like every year, every other SEC team has a competent backup except for LSU. AJ Swann came in to the Oklahoma game last year and looked like someone they'd pulled out of the stands. This seems to be sort of an LSU issue.

Every first instinct BK has had since he's been at LSU is and has been wrong. This is just icing on the cake. I can't stand him.

Will he be eligible for a medical red shirt? Makes even less sense for him to play like he did against SELU now.

IF this is the case this was handled very stupidly. Why not sit him for Tech, Florida and SELA? If he still hurt sit for OM and with the bye that's 5 weeks off. If you win at home against Florida and lose at OM with MVB as the starter you're in no different situation than you are now with potentially your starting QB coming back healthy into the back end of your schedule.

Now we're talking about shutting him down for the season at the start of October!

They also probably believed the running game would be able to take some pressure off of him. Im not sure why they believed it, but they clearly did. It also explains Kelly’s little outburst after UF.

I did not see it when it happened. I saw it on replay. It was almost targeting and I do believe it rattled Nuss.
