I definitely want them to be competitive, but basketball ranks a distant 3rd behind baseball and football for me personally.

That’s the majority of lsu fans thinking as well thankfully

I did not realize a sport could be woke? That's like saying a table is woke.

Now that you have seen how this season has gone, has anyone changed their mind about this basketball program?

LSU basketball was fun back there n the 1980’s. Dale Brown was exciting. Going to a Final Four and making the dance was exciting. Watching March madness was an exciting event.

Then Dale got old and could not recruit any more. Sanctions hit and the program has never been the same.

I am 58 years old now and have pretty much given up on the basketball program being relevant again. At least in my lifetime. The PTB are not going to invest in men’s basketball. The writing is on the wall. It would have to take a Billy Donovan or Nate Oates type of hire to get me excited again.

Love all LSU sports and I love the March Madness tournament. Would be a dream come true if we could ever have a men’s team win it. Would be so much fun to experience just once

I saw the Pistol play as a youngster and he was my hoops idol my entire basketball playing days. I loved most of the Dale Brown years, and Brady’s tenure too, and thereafter lost interest in the dark years under Trent Johnson, then came the Bullet who I played against in high school who wasn’t ready for prime time.

Then came the Pear who brought back the magic and fan enthusiasm, mostly because of the way his teams played and the talent he signed. It’s a close call who was the worst hire; Johnson or McMahon, but I haven’t watched a full game this year and the only player I can name is DJ.

The moral of the story brother, this is it, hire a bad coach and you’ll play like shite.

what does this even mean?

Let’s take a guess that this has something to do with skin color and stereotypes.

basketball is just a woke sport that has been crammed down our throats for years

Basketball is one of the 4 sports in America that people care about, and hockey isn’t a factor in the South. What—in your mind—makes it more “woke” than any other sport? It’s just men competing; it’s like any other sport.

You don’t have to like basketball, but don’t misattribute a political term just because we suck at fielding good teams. We’re a major school with a great athletic tradition. We should be good at a major sport.

Revenge is best served cold. That’s the actual phrase, which makes sense.

Apathy doesn’t really work that way.

When basketball is fun...it is FUN! With our storied program, yes we should give a shite about basketball. What a sleeping giant imo.

Agreed. It’s just not as interesting of a game to watch. IMO

In 90 percent of the games, you can literally wait until the last 3:00 minutes of the game, and see all if the excitement. The rest is just squeaky tennis shoes up and down the court.

The other 10 percent of the games are blowouts.

Now will I watch basketball some? Sure!

I have watched some of the lady’s games this year. I watched the men when WW had them doing well! Usually just the last 3:00 minutes though….

Basketball is important if the only reason is that it is, or could be, the second highest income producing sport. The LSU brand is also important. Also, the halo effect of a competitive basketball team cannot be understated.

LSU basketball is up there with LSU football for me , and of course I want LSU to do well in all sports but those are the two I follow religiously. Tried getting into baseball but it’s boring .

It's the cheapest sport to follow, 200 dollars for a decent season ticket. And more games than football. IMO it's more exciting than football or baseball if we have a team playing well.
