Like I said, I'm probably just overly frustrated with Ochinko's approach.
I have a lot of respect for someone that will listen to the other side of the discussion and recognize where they may have a flaw in their thinking like you're doing here. We need more of that on the board.

Lsu proved before, 3 bad seasons would get rid of a bad coach, they did it with smoke on just 2 bad years

Absolutely but let's not act like that if CPM has three rough years and a CFB coach has three rough years, they will make a baseball move as swift as a football move
Smoke Laval had one bad year and was gone

I'm all for debate. Especially in sports. I think it's great. What I can't stand is when others act like their opinion is the end all be all. You have your pocket of guys here who love to pump their chests based on their opinion alone. It's the same guys who are usually afraid of starting their own thread in fear of it not going well.

I'm with you but Smoke got fired because he had three shitty years that were way shittier than anyone could've imagined. If Paul has three shite years, he's got enough clout to warrant extra time. Smoke didn't have that.

Which 2 was that? His 2nd to last year was an 18-12 SEC record tied for 1st in West....40+ win season

I hated Smoke..but this is revisionist history

These former players can get experience at smaller in state schools.
Skip hired plenty of former players for their first college jobs, Mike Bianco and Dan Canevari in particular. Cannizzaro had no prior coaching experience either. Neither did UVA's head coach when Paul hired him at Norte Dame. Or Blake Dean when Paul hired him. There is no inherent fault in hiring an ex player. People were upset with Gibbs and Ochinko before they had coached a single day, which is ignorant imo.

Three? It was one. It was just clear the program was on a downward spiral

Pitching is below average and the worst hitting team in a long time. This is inexcusable at L S U.
....does Coach Mainieri own a shrimp boat?

Not to pick a fight but you were the guy who said it would be a typical move to let Dunn go, my man why are you complaining when someone calls you out on that?

Fair point. I did think Gibbs did well last season. I would not have gotten rid of him.
He didn't get rid of him, Gibbs had a really bad injury which caused him to not be able to physically coach this year.

We ONLY had to replace our entire starting pitching staff and infield...
No big deal.

No big deal.

Problem is that these clowns think that because we are LSU we should never have a bad run at any sport. You can tell our ages ,lol. I so rememeber the days we weren't so good at any major sports.

Even bigger issue is they just default to coaching every time we don't win a game. Baseball is a sport of failure which is magnified when you lose all your starting rotation, key guys in the bullpen, your middle infield, your best power hitter from last year and then have injury issues throughout the season. Even with all that we're still 2nd in the West, but according to fans that have no perspective, if we're not a top 5 team we suck and people need to be fired. I just wonder how many of these people played and/or have paid attention to the climate of college baseball the past 20 years. It's the most entitled irrational bullshite.

I agree with you, most never played any organized sport past NORD.

Again, wrong. I said it would be a typical move to hire a former mediocre pitcher IF DUNN LEFT. Good try, my man.
