We stayed and when the Stony Brook players came around the boys high fived them and told them good luck in Omaha... it's called sportsmanship!

Those who don't get this likely never will. Good move on your part, IMHO.

I guess some believe the proper response to the loss would be boo the Stony Brook players and coaching staff?

Monumental effort? Some of you are judging by the name and acting like we got taken down by some team of underdogs who were lucky to be on the same field as us. That team won 50 games and had over 8 guys drafted, they were a more talented team than us.

These kids were a long way from home. Some of them may get to play in the Majors- but most won't. But I would wager that NONE of them will ever forget the kindness of the best fanbase in college baseball.

Hell no stand up give them an ovation, wave at them, blow them kisses, whatever the hel you want to do but.....don't encourage them to partake in an LSU tradition that happens when WE win just so ESPN can see and say how great LSU fans are.....pathetic.

How many times have you seen two boxers or MMA fighters hang all over each other after a fight like they need a hotel room? When the fight is hard, win or lose, you appreciate the fight. After a loss, it is the idiot coward who waits for the winner to turn his back to throw something.

LSU baseball fans are not as insecure as many of these kids who post here. We don't expect to lose, and don't want to lose, but we will be right back there next time for the win. Clap for the good play and be confident that, more than not, the winners will be the home team.

At least act like you've been there before. Don't act like a punk.

Also, these ARE college kids, after all. Most of their traveling fans are their parents. Treat them well.

Oleheat better be careful, or he may hurt himself too much trying to pat himself on the back

All their hard work is being rewarded as the best fans in the country right now because Tim Brando is talking about how classy our fans are.

Print the t shirts. LSU Baseball Fans: Best in the Country, for the other team.

The "boys" Wilson was referring to were I assume to be his children, correct?

That's cool for children. I'm again not sure why a grown adult would go out of his way to pat the opposing team on the back.

Whatever. I was annoyed last night, but frankly, who gives a shite? If LSU fans want to spend their money and time to cheer to Stony Brook for kicking LSU's arse then so be it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here.

Maybe they just have a clear understanding that these are college kids- not professional baseball players- and that they want to show them some respect & encouragement to go along with showing them what The Box is all about instead of treating them like a home invader?

It's a game, man. Everybody goes home alive.

But I guess whatever floats one's own boat.

There's a lot of disappointment in this thread. LSU will likely never face Stony Brook on the field again ... no harm in showing those guys a little respect. And for the poster who said "who cares what others think of the fanbase" ... as an Alum, I care.

I can understand applauding an "incredible" (not good) defensive play or "incredible" pitching performance by the opposition. But hanging around to actually high five the team that knocks us out of the tourney is a bit much. jmho

I just don't understand how we crush our own players (for all of his limitations Arby Fields is still one of us) around town, at the bars, and espceially on this site.....but by god I'm an a-hole becuase I don't want to have a circle jerk with damn Stony Brook after they whipped us in our house.

I couldn't say whether you are or aren't. Probably a good person, for all I know. And of course- You are entitled to your opinion like everyone else.

I just happen to disagree with it. We'll both survive this ordeal.

our fans do it so they can run home and see how many people in the media proclaim how great and classy they are.

the first few times it was cool; but it got attention and it hasn't died. . It's just become forced and insincere at this point.

I was there and yelled loudly for them to bring it home. Mostly for our sakes so this loss doesn't look so bad.
