Its a balance between competition and increasing conference revenue. SC has 5 million people, NC has 11 million and Virginia has 6 million. Its about getting as many eyes on the product as possible

Are you stuck in 2009 thinking school need to be added to conferences do to TV markets or do you actually think UVA football is a bigger brand than Clemson football?

Clemson football is a national brand now, while they're in the ACC. If they have to play UGA, LSU, Texas, Florida every week, they're probably just above middle of the pack to be honest.

I would suggest that more people would watch Clemson nationwide, than all other ACC schools combined.

They're one of the few brands not yet in the SEC/Big 10 that casual non-fans would watch

Clemson is good and football, baseball, and has been good in the past at basketball. More complete program than Virginia or VA tech.

I dont think a program that has played for and won multiple natties recently is considered middle of the pack

Sec already has a footprint in South Carolina, not North Carolina or Virginia

Virginia has been good in basketball and baseball as of late. No telling in Virginia stays relevant in baseball though. They're just total garbage in football, and I don't know that they're the best fit regardless. Don't get me wrong, i'm not stumping for Virginia, i just think in a perfect world, we wouldn't have a conference with a former ACC team that shares a state with a current SEC team. (Ga Tech, Louisville, Florida State, Clemson) I just don't see the long-term net positive. In that situation though, Clemson is the biggest brand of all of them.

I’d be okay with UNC football joining the SEC as long as we get UNC basketball too. That would be the real winner. Would be cool to see UNC basketball play in BR often.

I really never understood the hate for Arkansas and South Carolina joining the league. They are perfect fits. At least under the old concept of a regional conference, with like minded fan bases too.

Agreed. I liked the SEC better when it was a 10-team league, especially for men’s basketball.

There’s nothing wrong with scheduling quality OOC games. I like them. But nothing says you have it to do it in Week 1 every year. We also always play the first game in the series on the road. We’re also tired of that.

Inb4: SMU comes here for the first game of its series.

Your article says nothing

UNC prefers to leave the ACC and join the SEC. No shite.
