I wouldn't bother with bringing an ice chest on wheels as you will get all the free beer/booze you want just walking around. Too, you won't have to mess with the ice chest when entering the stadium. No glass containers, so if booze is your thing, get a large plastic....we call them geaux cups...cup to walk around with.Refills will not be a problem. Skp breakfast & get to the stadium. the cooking starts as soon as a tent is up. Getting out there at 9:00 am is late for this game. There are tents & RV's set up all around the stadium Friday after 5 pm, so if any free time, stroll through the RV lots for sure, again, more free booze & food. Ignore the frat boys, they are useless. Do enjoy the eye candy around them, however. Lots & lots of eye candy. Campus police are typical rent a cops, but with an enlarged ego due to where they are, so see one, turn and walk the other way. Most are ok, just rather arrogant at times. With this game starting so late, do pace yourselves as the concept of free booze/beer is very real & does not stop all day long. Watch out for any male wearing red pants, white shirt & a red bow tie. They, too, are basically useless. Call them Black Bears if you really want to piss them off. Post game tail gates are big too, especially after LSU wins.

I would actually not wear LSU gear when out tailgating (but maybe do so at the game), maybe let people know you are from Canada so that you get easily invited to every tailgate in sight

Have at least something purple and gold with you though!!!!

How is Canada these days? The British kicked my ancestors out of Nova Scotia (" Le Grand Dérangement") beginning in 1755.

We had a few Canadian join us for a tailgate a few years back. My best advice based on that experience. Learn what a fire-ant is before you come.

I'm actually going to be up in Toronto this weekend, any recommendations on places to catch the game? Might be a little difficult convincing the staff to put on a football game when the Maple Leafs are playing (Leafs start @ 7, LSU starts @ 9 so I should be ok hopefully). I'll be staying near the Hockey Hall of Fame.

These are your tickets into a large number of tailgates. When you're walking past a nice looking tailgate, find someone thats got a beer in their hand, tell them you're from Canada and its your first game and ask for recommendations on gameday experience. They'll likely offer you food and/or drinks and introduce you to their tailgating buddies while telling you about all the different gameday sights to see.

I have to say everyone, this is all great advice.

We surely will be "oot and aboot" all day long, so if you see us (likely will be wearing a lot of red Canada gear) flag us down!

This is what I have learned so far about tailgating at LSU...

1. No frat boys
2. There will be lots of food
3. Whiskey goes over well
4. People will try to get you drunk
5. You will likely get drunk so don't be a rookie
6. Wear both red Canadian gear and LSU gear at possibly the same time
7. Bring your own beer (or don't, you guys are conflicted on that)
8. Be in the stadium early (30 min)
9. We have to update you on your Canadian stereotypes eh

10. You guys all seem to be pretty warm and welcoming. I look forward to meeting some of you!

Tell everyone you are doing recon on the locals due to the impending mass migration to Canada after the election.

Also don't forget to also leave the stadium as early as possible. Probably should start heading for the exit about midway through the 2nd quarter.

Safe travels and welcome to LSU!

What made you pick the LSU game exactly versus another team? Have an affiliation with LSU of some sort? Enjoy your stay!
