I don’t know what “people” you’re talking about… But after the Trent Johnson and Johnny Jones era I can promise you there was nobody outside of Dale Brown Circle complaining about WW lack of coaching acumen. Dude was a stud. Dude was a menace even scheduling with NET at the heart of every team he scheduled…. Data driven… Most importantly got effing talent here and got them to play with passion. Revisionist history to say that Guy couldn’t coach.

You just listed off a host of things he did well without once addressing what people said he did poorly: on court Xs and Os, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Are you really saying you never heard that?

People absolutely fricking trashed his teams for “playing street ball instead of running an offense” and that was why we always got beat by good teams.

While it’s true, people did have this take, it was a fairly ignorant one.

But to the idea I believe you are communicating I think that being a fan of a team in competitive sports innately makes you more inclined to tribalism. On a sports board dedicated to one team, people are going to choose sides are root for it. It’s natural. Which explains why people who attend, and at events would cheer for the team are just giddy and practically celebrating the loss. They are a fan of their ideals in this place. But lsu fans in the stadiums.

And you know what, I’d be fine with that. His teams were fun to watch. He was fun to watch. We won more than we lost and we made the tournament. I’m good with that. We are a baseball and football school. I just want basketball to be entertaining again.

Look at his record EVERYWHERE he's been. You don't produce that winning percentage over a career if you can't coach.

Also, he had us in the tournament every year and won the SEC in year 2. But he's not a good coach?

And of course we've heard he can't coach. Just because a ridiculous statement is made repeatedly, that doesn't mean it's true.

He had a top 10 offense one year at LSU, and also a top 10 defense another one. Is he just lucky?

No reason to tell you who my source is… I’ve lived in Baton Rouge for 25 years. You get to know people over time.

Lots of sources in the last three digits of your handle as well. Haha.

Have heard the same thing from connected folks on that end of the state.

I will add, what he did at McNeese is nothing short of a miracle. They were perennial bottom dwellers and he won the conference 2 years in a row not to mention made the tournament both years.

Yup live there now…considering my username lol. They all share the same sentiment. It is likely to happen. He is super excited to get back if everything works out.

It would be totally on brand for Landry to stick his nose somewhere it doesn't belong (again)

Well, how have things turned out after he stuck his nose in the first time?

After someone smart told him to be quiet and back off? It went great after that.

It was reported that the governor had a 2 hour meeting with Kiffin the weekend Kiffin finalized his decision.

People that said that are just plain stupid.

The actual truth is Wade’s offenses were always very highly measured in offensive efficiency by objective sources, not Bubba Jrs that want to cancel the program anyway.

As was stated earlier, just because something is said and often repeated, does not make it true. Idiots come up with a narrative and stick to it, regardless of accuracy or evidence.

Imagine Lane Kiffin leaving LSU in August to go to NC State. And now imagine Wade leaving Raleigh for Baton Rouge.

You may be right. Don't ever forget he's a HORRIBLE X & O coach though.

He's just really lucky, and the funeral home director we now have is just snakebit.

McMahon did lose 2 future HOF players right before the meat of the schedule hit.
