You could leave Frank Wilson in as HC and surround him with the best asst coaches . A HC is sort of an organizer , CEO .
This is the most asinine, retarded bullshite, and I laugh every time it gets posted on this board. You people have no clue what a CEO does.

Ole Miss is seen as a hard place to win
and he has won a lot of games there.
ole Miss has 6 seasons with 10 or more wins since 1971.
Lane coachesd 4 of them.
In those 4 regular seasons, Ole Miss played 9 games against teams that finished ranked. In the same 4 regular seasons, LSU played 16 games against teams that finished ranked.
If you’re going to give Kiffin credit for winning at a place like Ole Miss, you have to also acknowledge that a 10 win season at Ole Miss has not been the same thing as a 10 win season at LSU. When you’re playing almost 2 fewer ranked teams in a given season, that’s going to skew your win total considerably.
He’s been the beneficiary of baby soft OOC scheduling along with the easiest SEC schedule in the league post-realignment.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good coach. I’m not disputing that. But there’s a flaw in the logic when people look at their record and say “if he can win 10 games at Ole Miss, imagine what he could do at LSU.”
I think Kiffin is probably the best coach on the board but there’s risk just like with any other candidate. That risk gets magnified if you have to handcuff yourself to a $13+ million/year contract.

Where is all that Ole Miss $? They always appear very well to do and affluent. Big hat no cattle?

Ummm....offensive production and his scheme is unmatched in cfb.

He's turned Ole Miss into a National contender. How is LSU doing?

Lane coached 4 of them.

This is not to bash Kiffin, but to gain a better understanding why he's such a hot commodity whenever a major head coaching job becomes available. I understand he's an incredible offensive mind and I think he's a solid head coach, but his record as an SEC head coach isn't that overwhelming.
When it comes to Kiffin, you can't go by the record, you go by how stable and focused he seems to be.
Saying he's "an incredible offensive mind" is still underselling it. He's a football genius. He also has had trouble keeping his act together. That's why he's been hired as head coach of the Raiders in the NFL, Tennessee, USC etc. It's also why he's been ingloriously fired a few times.
Basically, he's got unlimited potential and promise, but had never shown he could keep it together and maintain it.
Until now.
He hasn't had a frickup at Ole Miss yet. This seems to show he's ready now.

the idea that Ole Miss suddenly has as much money as every other team ignores that we’ve been payi jg these players under the table for decades.
they aren’t indiana where a sports lunatic like Mark Cuban wouldn’t get involved with under the table stuff.

Umm, whoever would dismiss Elko as a HC is an absolute idiot and should never be taken seriously when talking about football. I was scared to know what that man will do at A&M and I’m afraid we are already seeing it this year.

quote:in this new era of CFB he’s won 50 games at OLE MISS in 5 years. Only 3 coaches in football have a national championship and no one wants Dabo. Who is a better coach now in the carousel? What he’s done prior to the past 5 years is irrelevant. It’s can you win in the NIL era and he’s proven that. Ole Miss has never won as many games as he has over the past 2 seasons and he’s doing it with a D2 qb
but his record as an SEC head coach isn't that overwhelming.
In seven seasons as an SEC HC, he has yet to win an SEC championship or even play in the SEC championship game.

A national contender? He's averaging more than 3 losses a season and he's never even made it to an SEC championship game or won an SEC championship in seven seasons as an SEC HC.

I understand him being in demand, but making him one of the highest paid coaches in college football makes zero sense. If he's competitive every season like he is at Ole Miss and has the same results - 3 losses every season, no SEC Championships or championship appearances in six seasons - he's going to be CBK 2.0 and LSU will be on the hook for another massive buyout!
