I thought we had one of the few programs in the country that actually turned a profit in baseball

We did at one point, but we started spending more. Most notably on coaching salaries, but on other things as well.

And when we did turn a profit, it wasn’t much.

Also don't have to worry about the time limit on the Sunday game.

i know you were being funny, but there is an airport there. Maybe because there is no direct flight. it's probably a 7 to 8 hours bus ride

Recent Losses: In more recent years, the program has faced financial challenges. In 2020, the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, with LSU playing only 17 games instead of the usual 60+. This led to a significant drop in ticket sales (from $2.64 million to $848,973) and a $1.92 million loss. In the 2023-24 fiscal year, the program recorded a deficit of $1.9 million, with $8.02 million in revenue and $9.99 million in expenses, despite strong revenue from ticket sales ($661,000 increase in 2023). This followed a near break-even performance in 2023 when LSU won the national championship.

• Context: The program’s expenses have risen significantly, reaching $9.9 million in 2023-24 compared to $5.9 million two years earlier, driven by costs like coaching salaries, recruiting, and facilities. Despite occasional deficits, LSU baseball remains a financial outlier in college baseball, where most programs lose money due to high costs (e.g., scholarships, travel, and equipment) and lower revenue compared to football or basketball.

Didn’t realize that. I just searched and came across this crummy article from last season. I was very surprised we weren’t #1 but even more surprised by who was… you’d never guess

Top 5 richest programs in college baseball

#1. Binghamton (earning $11.501 million)

Binghamton University, located in upstate New York, is the biggest money earner in college baseball in 2024. Interestingly, the Bearcats have never been to the College World Series. They have reached the NCAA Tournament five times though, starting with their first appearance in 2009.
Binghamton's stadium, the Baseball Complex, seats only 1,000 fans. The school does have a generous alumni group, particularly in terms of financing baseball. A recent $60 million gift will help build a new baseball stadium complex.

Air travel sucks. If something is 4.5hrs away, just drive it.

It's about 4 hours from BR to Houston and about 1.5 hrs on to College Station.

Now if they're smart - they'll bring a cooler and load up on smoked boudin from Kartchner's (Exit 97) and andouille from Rabideaux's (Exit 44) in LA and then stop at the Buccees in Baytown and Hempstead in TX.

They will be going in the Hotard busses wrapped in LSU. It’s advertising and under six hours. I’m sure they’ve got state police detail to CStat.
They could land at Easterwood, but it’s less expensive.

No airport in College station. Just queers and steers.

They actually do have one. I flew out of there a lot when I had the misfortune of living there. Just a one gate kind of deal but they could get the team there if they cared to
