With the new redshirt rules and LSU's QB situation of losing Narcisse, it's probably (?) a good way to handle thus far. It could be a luxury to have Brennan as needed down the stretch yet still be able to redshirt him.

There hasn't been a game yet that I felt like we should have put Brennan in. Like others said, those reps would not have been very meaningful.

I think you have to circle the Rice game for a couple of reasons.

Arkansas. For those reasons stated, plus that could give him 4 games with bowl.

You don’t wish MB would have gotten more time thus far from mop up duty?

If this were next season, then sure. MB will have used his redshirt and Burrow will have a full year as a starter under his belt.

Burrow already had to split camp reps with 3 other QBs. We aren’t in a position to be giving valuable reps to the 2nd string QB.

Brennan coming in in garbage time is pointless and could lose his ability to redshirt.

The offense is maturing, it is not even established. Burrow needs every rep he can get. Period.

O has handled personnel perfectly over the last two years.

I'd rather see him with a whole extra season. Why risk losing that so he can hand the ball off with a 30 point lead?

It’s aggregated me he hasn’t gotten playing time this year.

If there’s something to gripe at O about this would be my gripe.

Dang son, i'm going to take up for O here (write this down). Burrow needs ALL SNAPS possible to keep building a rhythm with the passing game. The coaching staff has played this right.

Brennan has the most arm talent on the roster, however he knew the deal when he signed on. He needs to put on some muscle mass to be able to withstand SEC type hits. This is his second year and he is still where he started. So they are trying to use a redshirt so hopefully when he does develop we have a few years with him. If Burrow gets injured then he will probably have to burn that redshirt unless it is late in the season. I do think he probably gets some playing time vs arky and Rice, with a wait and see approach otherwise. I would be surprised if they didnt try and get him in 4 games.

Our starter needs the reps more than our backup.

I wouldn't be shocked if he played 3/4 of the Rice game and plays a good bit against Arkansas, assuming we're in control which we sure as hell should be.

True but there are circumstances where a coach would want to get his first team quarterback out of a game. I think our coaches are struggling with that right now. If you have a comfortable lead in the 4th quarter normally they would put in a backup quarterback. The problem is our backup quarterback can only play in four games and still redshirt. I think that's why you have not seen Brennan before now. Obviously there is a concerted effort to be sure Brennan maintains his redshirt eligibility. His time is approaching.

I'm not upset about Brennan not playing, but Burrow didn't need to be in for our last drive against Ole Miss. We had just forced a 3 and out, were up 22 with 6 minutes left and it was obvious that drive was going to be all runs to finish the game off. Burrow still being in for that drive convinced me that the staff wants to redshirt Brennan because I didn't feel there was a point in any of the other games where it made sense to play him.

Orgeron said earlier in the year, when this was brought up, that they were going to treat Brennan like the backup and not with the intent to redshirt him. Well, I believe that if someone else had been the backup, he would have gone in on that drive.

I do think it's a smart roster management strategy, if it works out, though.

It's called developing future players. We don't have a really good history with that.

Brennan isn't going to improve enough with a few series in mop up duty to make a significant difference. If you believe he will, then I would argue Burrow needs them as much if not more considering how long he's been here.

How did mop up duty work out for Tua last year?

He will play in the last four games. To do so otherwise, as many of you want, is fricking stoop1d

You act like LSU has been blowing teams out.
Mop up duty isn't up two touchdowns
