I'm optimistically pessimistic.

You don't think it's more likely that a lawyer (if he even is one) would have a source in the LSU AD than a school teacher, or most other careers?
You see lawyers work with other lawyers. I'd imagine they talk sports sometimes among themselves, and it's significantly more likely they would know another lawyer who works with LSU than other people would in most other professions. And they can speak in generalities without violating privilege before you go there.
What is to be gained by posting every 2 months, jumping in and getting tigahlovah all riled up with fake news, and then popping up 2 months later.
Especially when most of his post history DOES NOT pertain to the Wade situation?
There are no guarantees on a message board.
But it's way more likely than not that Wade is coming back to LSU.
It's more beneficial to him AND LSU. Time Will reveal.
And by the way, very few Tiger fans will be placated by a girl's NC if/when the news breaks of this EPIC LOSER'S return.
And you believe it's possible they are PUBLICLY stringing McMahon along (no matter what he's been told in private), hindering his recruiting efforts and possible staff changes by waiting for a potential girl's championship to provide cover from the backlash from his announced return??
You're not the brightest bulb.

I hope you’re right but why haven’t we heard anything?

There’s another option that doesn’t involve paying millions in a buyout to swap one coach who can’t advance into the tourney for another…

Still waiting for the day you actually contribute something of substance to the board. I have a feeling I’ll be waiting a lifetime though.
If you live in Colorado, how come you don’t enjoy the outdoors instead of posting nonsense? Too out of shape to go for a hike I take it.

Why? I am close friends with a recently (this year) retired Vet professor from LSU, and have an in-law married to a person very high up in the Athletic department, and I have close to 0 inside info. The guy you're talking about, based only on his posting history, is no more connected than you or I.

You'd be surprised what lawyers do and do not talk about. Once again, without giving a lot of details, I have had a lot of interaction within the legal community, I can tell you that those who have inside info would not be posting it as that guy did on any public forum.

Why do people post half the crap they do here?

I don't think it is, but I will be more than happy if I am wrong. I'd put the chances at 35-40%. Not 0, better than an outside chance, but not likely.. In other words, I wouldn't be shocked, but I would be pleasantly surprised.

LSU, sure, not sure why to him, though. It feels like LSU has not been serious about basketball for some time now.

No doubt

I think a lot of people believe that no announcement by now means they ar keeping him. Heaven forbid a delay impact MM's otherwise spectacular recruiting.

Perhaps, but at least I don't treat some random post on TD like gospel because the poster claims to be a lawyer and doesn't post much.

That an awful lot of connecting random perceptions to make the information credible. It's more akin to wishful thinking and rationalization than logic thought.
I would say someone who is close to a Ben Bordelon, Gordon McKernan, et al is a better source than "other lawyers".

Just how beneficial is it to Wade?

I don't know if it's "way more likely" but there is certainly a lot of smoke on the LSU side although not so much on the NC State side.
It's obvious that McMahon needs to be replaced. It's an understatement to say that the program is going nowhere with him at the helm.
Wade would certainly breathe life into the program. If it's not Wade, it will be someone else sooner or later. It is certainly possible that LSU is waiting on a coach who is still in the tourney rather than Wade, or is a secondary target even if Wade is the first choice.

Troll of the century. So many reapers here believe this and are praying for it

His recruiting has arguably been as good or better than Florida's recruiting since he's been hired, with PUTRID results.
Here are the 3 most likely scenarios, and there is no 4th scenario that seems plausible to me:
1) Waiting on a Wade decision. If he foolishly stays in Raleigh to compete with the ODUs of the world (in the near future) complete with the funding challenges that go with that, LSU most likely would announce McMahon is returning at that point.
2) Waiting until April 1 to pay the reduced buyout.
3) Currently negotiating with NC st for a reduced/waived buyout of Wade in the interest of giving the wolfpack more time to find a coach.
You can't possibly think there aren't whispers in recruiting/potential assistant coach circles that McMahon is in trouble. If LSU has already decided to keep him they would put out a statement regarding that so they wouldn't be hindering his recruiting/possible staff change efforts.
Oh, and by the way, it's not just message board chatter suggesting a Wade return. Tweets are popping up from national basketball writers saying this is a growing possibility.
The above is in addition to what any poster here may claim to know. And there have been over a dozen of those claiming his return is certain from a source they know. Can they ALL be full of shite?? Possibly, but unlikely.
I'm reading the tea leaves of the situation, not relying primarily on message board chatter.

Let's just agree that our readings are different. Mine is slightly pessimistic, but hopeful I am wrong.
I really just hope we don't keep McMahon, regardless of who they hire. It could get worse, but it isn't likely.

Could you possibly link any of these from the past week or so? Now that would be extremely useful information. I have looked and haven't been able to find any credible national hoops writers indicating that there was real smoke.
