Agree. People said the same stuff in 2008. We just eclipsed Sept 29, 2008 on a percentage basis. That’s not a buying opportunity but a warning sign that things are about to get real bad.

Except the vast differences in oil prices then and now, housing market and attendant liar loans/mortgages, etc. There was no COVID-19 hysteria, either, which is having a large impact on this and possible wage losses due to how employees may be handled, etc.

Just bought into LUV at $43.

It may bleed a little more, but I’m willing to bleed a bit more at this price and under these seemingly temporary circumstances.

Airlines down + price of oil down, as we approach warmer months ? Yeah, I’m in.

Yep.
In Sept 08 S&P shorts were significant holdings.
Here, I'm on the cusp of going UPRO.

Other than that small detail . . .

Bought ET today at 6.75 a ridiculous steal. Right now it's at 7.36 and it pays a $1.22 dividend that works out to 16.6%. No brainer.

Sold DAL puts for 150% profit still have CCL & MGM puts that I'm going to sit on until the other shoe drops when we see thousands of more cases with the expanded testing.

I am a coward. I moved my 401k into mostly bonds since I am not convinced that we are at the rock bottom point. I'll move back into stocks and take risks soon enough - I am very young (31) and can afford to take risks.

You went to all bonds, but can afford to take risks? The advantage you have is a 30yr horizon. You don't need to time the exact bottom here. You simply need to look for opportunities in terms of long term holdings.

In terms of investing within a long-term time-horizon, does it affect things if SPY, DIA, QQQ drop further before you hop in?

The disdain on this board for folks who jumped into safety is hilarious. Dow drops 3% BUY BUY BUY. Why you selling? You can't time the market!?? You gonna miss out?!! You selling at the bottom!!

I'm not selling shite. I'm adding to my blue chips in my IRA and playing options in my daily account.

My biggest regret. Life been too busy for me to devote enough time to play with options. Hindsight 20/20 and all

No one here should hold that a 30-something parking all his assets in bonds at a <1% ROI makes sense.

I’m not trying to catch a falling knife. I am just doing what I normally do. It just so happens prices are much lower these last few weeks than last month.

Kind of scary, but this is money that is going to be working for the next 10+ years.
