That’s high. Are you including going out to eat? We have three kids under 7 and we maybe around that much but we live in the northeast where prices are usually higher.

Similar situation to you. Wife and I both do bodybuilding so our meals are demanding and strict; we both eat 6 meals a day. Egg whites, turkey, chicken, rice, oatmeal, protein powder/bars, yogurt.

Almost all of our grocery shopping is done at Sams. I am at right about $600/month for the Sams bill and that includes all of our groceries, diapers and wipes for the 4 month old, paper towels etc. Then we spend maybe another $300-400 eating out a few times which could easily be cut if we wanted.

Not sure what all you’re getting but you can definitely cut back. I’ll say our dinners are usually the same similar prep meals (lean meat with rice or sweet potatoes) so maybe those nice meals every night the wife is cooking are adding up.

If I can get out of store close to $100 each week I feel good, though it's getting tougher. I feel I eat well too. By myself.

consuming about $1400 in groceries per month. There has to be a way to cut that down.
You noted Sam's. The problem for a fam of 3 is the requisite bulk buying. Switching from Kroger to a discount grocer (e.g., Walmart) will knock significant money off your bill. BTW, Costco (if it's an option) is much better than Sam's for produce/meats/deli.

We have been spending alot less since we started shopping at Kroger vs HEB...

Also, we typically will harvest 2 deer a year, which helps out alot.

My grocery and fuel budget is a combined 1,200 a month.

My commute is 0 miles and my wife's commute is 4 miles, so when we don't travel much fuel is very low.

We do 1 $250-350 Costco run every month for bulk meat, eggs, milk, coffee, and other high volume items. Then spend 100-150 a week on HEB runs.

Previously we had months where we were only spending 900-1,00 of the 1,200, or maybe buying some fun Costco bull shite while there with the additional money, but now we spend every penny on the necessities.

Damn.

USA Budget - $800

When I am eating at home and cooking, I am spending around $800 per month and that includes cooking for the GF as well a few nights a week. I eat very healthy. Mostly steak, chicken, eggs, bacon rice, fruit and vegetables. If it has more than 1 ingredient I don't typically buy it.

This does not include nights out which can run upwards of $200 a night but those happen maybe once or twice a month.

Colombia Budget - $350 for the same and a night out is about $50-$75

2 adults, 2 kids (girls, 14, and 11). My kids bring their lunch to school every day (they don't like school lunch).

Groceries, household items, dog food and dog supplies, we average around $1,000 a month. It fluctuates but that's what we budget.

We go to Sams usually about every 2-3 weeks. From there we get chicken, snacks for kids, household items such as laundry detergent / toilet paper / paper towels, water, and frozen items. Usually spend $150 or so per trip.

We go to the slaughterhouse in MS about once a month and spend $200 or so on meat.

We do a weekly grocery order with Walmart Grocery. We go pick it up. Doing an order helps us see what we are spending (there is a running total) and the prices are better (except for meat... Walmart's meat prices suck but we get our meat from the slaughterhouse / Sams).

We meal plan weekly. I usually cook 4-5 dinners a week. Rest are leftovers / going out.

I've kind of become a prick about throwing away cooked food. I don't mind eating the same thing 2-3 times, rest of the family isn't a big fan of leftovers right away. If I can freeze leftovers, I do, and use them on a night during the week when I'm not able to cook. Not all leftovers freeze well, though.

Breakfast I usually eat eggs most mornings, and lunch, I usually have a salad with protein (watching carbs). Rest of family has cereal / waffles / raisin bread / bagels for breakfast, and usually sandwiches or leftovers for lunch.

If we didn't plan, we would be spending a LOT more.

$800-$1000 with 4 (2 adults 2 kids)

although some of that could be misleading because I don't buy much meat on a weekly basis, rather we buy meat in bulk, which saves in the long term, but obviously expensive initially

meat comes from hunting, whole pig once per year from BIL, and I buy whole chickens by the dozen from a local farm about every 6 months

typical weekly grocery store run is around $180-200 per week and we typically go out to eat once a week as a family ($60-$80)

Roughly $1,200, maximum.

2 adults, and 2 growing boys so I foresee that number increasing quickly over the next few years. We are pretty good about cooking big meals and eating left overs.

This does not include alcohol. The wife and I are douchey wine snobs so we like to try expensive wines. I am not posting how much we spend there.

Myself and My Wife. Three boys. 6 year old 4 year old and a newborn.

Gonna be ROUGH down the road.

But we were at $400 biweekly. We take our grocery money out in cash and only spend the cash. But we recently had to bump to $500. But its quickly becoming not enough.

A good friend of mine has 4 boys within 3 years of age. Had one then a set of triplets. I feel for the man. I couldn't imagine feeding 4 16-18 year old men.

JFC what in the hell are y’all buying? I think the only way I could seriously spend that much is if I was getting high end steaks and exotic fish every week. Prior to inflation we were $300-$400 for my wife and 2.5 yr old. Now I bought a side of beef that will last us a year so no more protein in the weekly trip and we are ~$300 with inflated prices. Prior to the side of beef, our weekly meals would be dictated by whichever protein was on sale and if nothing was on sale, we’d do chicken thighs.

Well, the difference would be that you bought a side of beef that will last you a year. I eat a lot of lean beef, chicken, and Turkey. I eat also eat a lot more protein than you do.

About $1400/month for family of 4, including 2 kids under 10. This figure includes food but also many household items, cleaning, etc., and some baking things that’s a hobby for the wife. My wife cooks a lot. We eat well at home.

Good topic!

ETA: restaurants was about $300 per month.
