I mean, other than the market manipulation associated with the way this went down, targeted tariffs are actually effective

This is what we should have done from the beginning.

Countries that are mostly good faith actors should have been given a chance to right any specific large imbalances they have.

Bad faith actors... tariff the shite out of them. China is a bad faith actor.

Was trying to take the smart approach and enter with about 15%-20% of my stack daily over the course of several days, but then this happens... could have just as easily gotten bad news and had the bottom fall out.

I had a meeting and just randomly decided to dump about $12k in before jumping on that call (TM, NUVB, RF, PINS, DIA). This popped off about 15 minutes later

ETA: Not a large sum by any means, the timing here is pretty crazy. Couldn't have lined it up better.

Mine was a similar amount and I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now not gonna lie. Its not life changing money but its nice to have good timing for a change when its usually shite

Everyone wants to call Trump whatever name they want, but now the entire window has been shifted and everyone is relatively ok with massive pressure on China to equal the playing field.

Before this, the “free trade at all costs crowd” would’ve cried a river if anyone dared to question even the slightest bit of pressure on China to stop unfair trade practices that have hurt the US economy.

Interesting that Apple is up 12% right now and everything they produce is from godforsaken China

I agree. Declaring a trade war against basically everyone from the beginning was misguided.

What percent of products are made in China? Especially looking at Amazon, which has a massive percentage of products made in China. A rational thought would be to be bearish on Amazon still because the tariffs on China are still on and are getting worse.

Amazon is up over 9% right now as I type this though.

More than 50% of Amazon’s operating profit is from AWS cloud services.

And it’s still a buying opportunity?

At some point in the future folks will wish they had gone all in at the current $490 VOO price…we’re still more than 10% below all time highs… really depends on your time horizon. Could be next week, could be 2 years.

How does a CEO, the Fed, or global partners find any solace in any of this?

The big orange pussy backed down, AGAIN, but only for 90 days? Absolute fricking clown show.

My portfolio looks better today but it should have never dropped the way it did.
