Did Preece just say "It's been a fricking long road" ?
Posted on 2/4/26 at 8:40 pm to 1999
That's mercifully over. Good for Preece though.

lol interview was better than the race
But it was a Wednesday night and I needed to unwind after a crazy couple of days. So i sat through it. Probably would have given up on a Sunday.

That race reminded me of a Ron White line…
“We’re traveling at half the speed of smell. We got passed by a kite!”

Holy clusterfrick. Once rain tires on let em race. That delay cost me.
Fox moving a live sporting event for a damn recorded game show? What in the actual frick? Had to watch on DVR due to being busy and they cut the fricking racing for a game show! After I invested time to watch without spoilers they moved it!
Total cluster. From not having it Tue to wasting so much time during cautions to wasting way too much switching to rain tires to cutting off the program.
Golden chance this year with F1 going Apple. And already blowing it. Disgusting.

Didn't Fox buy into Indy Car? Are they going to sabotage Nascar to help Indy Car?

Who knows. Nascar, as bad as they’ve run it down still way outdraws Indy. And yes they have Indy. But tonight was just normal for Fox Nascar.

Least you were able to DVR it. Fox 8 fricked all of south Louisiana. Had to watch on the app. Will have to watch replay on YouTube once they upload.

No, they cut me off at around lap 155 or so. Then my dvr showed a fricking gameshow. I never saw the last quarter of race and frick Nascar and Fox. Not gonna bother now. Had I known I never would have watched any of it and used my time better

I didn't get to watch the end either bc I was busy with work stuff earlier and DVR didn't handle the switch, oh well race sort of sucked anyways in the second half
Pretty pathetic they got booted for the fricking masked singer

When did it start on Fox 8? I never saw it. And didn’t even try after halfway.

Hate 1/4 mile tracks but at least we got to see cars racing. Rain tires were great but why the delay? Throw caution, let them change tires and go at it.
I like rain tires on short flat tracks but they don't need to throw a caution. Let them decide when to come in and change. Obviously they couldn't do this at Bowman Gray but that seems to be SOP at other tracks with traditional pit lanes.
I thought SVG was going to steal one but happy for Preece, he needed it.

Well they had to throw it bc they don't race them in the actual rain only after it's done (I think at least partially bc of spray blocking visibility) but I do think given it was an exhibition they should've gone green earlier

It would’ve been interesting if they could’ve had a longer run. SVG fell victim to restart shenanigans.

This race is supposed to be a positive to get people ready for D500. It was actually a PR nightmare. Fans are lighting up social media.
First is the camera work and angles. Such a small track and yet they zoom in and focus on just a few cars. No way to see cars behind or in front. Why not have some shots from the ends where you can see the action.
Then the delays for weather. Sun to Mon to Wed. Then they took too much time for cautions. There were 17 cautions. Which is another story about how bad drivers are and entitlement to just wreck other cars. And no wipers?
Then they had a gas stoppage to allow cars to go fuel up. BS, if you run out thats your fault. Less fuel meant more speed and those cars gambled and lost. If you carried more fuel it penalized your speed and handling so in essence those cars were penalized for being smarter and putting in enough fuel. It made them slower but they could go all the way.
Then the switch to FS2. Did you know FS2 averages 11,000 viewers for programming. No one has it. Would they move a football game to show The Mask? Just flat out embarrassing.
At the 2 hour mark they should have declared the race would end in 45 minutes regardless of laps. Just like tracks with no lights. Would have allowed it to finish on Fox and 15 minutes for post race. As it was I read they ended at 180 laps anyways.
And the booth continues to be bland and boring. They talk as if no one has ever watched a race before. They need someone with energy in there.
Horrible way to start the year. They already pissed off a majority of their fans before Daytona even starts. I expected them to increase viewers with F1 going to Apple but we’ll see. The production of races and booth are really bad.

Fox does that no matter the track and it's very frustrating
The rest, well, some of it was somewhat in NASCAR's control and some of it wasn't. I give them credit just for having the thing. Would've been easy just to say not this year

I have emailed Nascar several times about the whole broadcast fiasco. Of course they did not respond.
They finally put it on broadcast TV and then frick that all up.
Everyone talks about how things are so great with all the cable and steaming services but all it does is frick everything up.
frick
frick
frick 'em all

Yup. A viewer never really gets a feel for the race. I go back and look at old TV footage from 80’s and 90’s and it was so much better.
In the booth for trucks, I was hoping they’d take Jammie Little out of it and put her back in pit road reporting. When she did pits her voice is raised enough where its a great report. In the booth she’s so bland and boring. They won’t because its a DEI thing, they want a woman in the booth regardless.
Sometimes just by how he says things I feel Mike Joy is being told what to say or how to act. He seems throttled so to speak. And Harvick can be good but his sidekick doesn’t mesh well. I think we only need 2 in the booth for all series and then have drivers or special occasion visitors.
After all the knocking each other out I wish all drivers had to take the same bus to Daytona and have a cam with live feed. That woulda been more entertaining then the race

I had it on until they swapped to FS2. What a shite show all around.
