They are just trying to get to where they would actually deserve 4 auto-bids.

Okay. Majority of the games were good. What are we bitching about?

28 is absurd but 12 is significantly too small. There is a chance LSU plays Texas georgia alabama clemson texas a&m plus 5 other sec teams in 2026…we might play 6 top 15 teams. If we go 9-3 with texas clemson and georgia wins, but lose a TAMU to Bama and throw in another away game, we wouldn’t make it in…

But Illinois playing 1 ranked team would. It isn’t fair

Maybe two more years 12 then I could see it going to 16.

This isn’t a playoff size issue. It’s an issue with the committee’s terrible decision making and the schedule disparity across the sport.

frick the Big10. Never forget they tried to get the 2020 season cancelled.

On second thought, I wish they had succeeded…

As a big proponent of expanding the playoff beyond 4 teams. This is an absolutely idiotic idea.

I think 128 is the sweet spot personally.

Can't wait for 256 team NCAA Spring Madness in basketball and 64 team playoffs in football...

If they are going to expand it, make it double elimination too.

And here we go....

Once the Gates of Hell were opened, destruction follows.

Now CFB will be just another generic Tournament you find in all the other College sports lacking uniqueness, historical identity and Joie de vivre.

Remember when everyone clamored to "fix" CFB. What have. they done?

At some point you just gotta tell the people that enough is enough or else we will have an all 136 FBS team playoff.

I am not even joking when I say this it would literally make MORE sense to do a 136 team playoff than to do a 28 team playoff.

I’m a southern college football homer like most of you. Grew up watching Bo, Herschel, Manning, Spurrier, the Bear, etc. Went to GT and expanded my fandom into the ACC as well as SEC. But some of you are just way off.

The vast majority of fans realize the history of college football Natties is littered with corruption. So the stats comparing titles simply are given no credence. Heck, Auburn just added 4 titles to their resume this past week.

The polls and media are so biased, just like the political media. They don’t look at today but allow the recent past to influence their opinions.

But I totally understand why SEC fans don’t want an expanded playoff. Why would you when the old system was your playground. But, the country is bigger than the SEC and there are fanbases all over the country starving for a real shot when they have a good team. For my team, that may be once every 10 years but it sure would be nice to have a shot in a playoff system. I’m sure Ole Miss and South Carolina fans feel the same.

For the past decade it’s been a very boring sport with the same 8 teams, A 20 plus team playoff will be incredible for December and January.

After 1 season, you cant come away with that conclusion

After 10 seasons of 4 teams, we saw 1 or 2 teams in the 4team format that got their doors blown off almost every season

Last year the field was a little more wide open, and the 12 team playoff was great...but thats not going to happen every year
