Huge deal but he is a hell of a player at a weak position.

LSU baseball getting rich

The Sox seem to have fricked up a plus position over the last year.

I mean I get it but just not in love with the deal. Same with Cabrera to be honest. Incredible stuff with meh results.

5 years is very reasonable. I think this deal ages well even if he isn’t an ideal fit at Wrigley. Funny seeing him and Dansby occupy the left side of the same infield after that college year and draft going 1/2

Cubs got the whitest infield in baseball

Pretty good day for Chicago sports.

This lineup is a Craig Counsell wet dream

If the Cubs can get Tucker back, they would have cleaned shopped with the 2015 Draft class.

I love Nico. Nico is my guy. But Shaw has way upside. Shaw to 2nd, deal Nico.
Sorry Nico. You're still my guy

Bregs got rich. Cubs going nowhere.

Statistically over the last several seasons, he's top 20 in the league in WAR and right behind the 3 headed monster of JRam, Machado, and Devers in the wRC+ stat.
The funniest part about this whole thing is the Red Sox burned bridges with their franchise third baseman and longest tenured player to bring in Alex Bregman, and they send him off less than a year later.

Wait why did the Red Sox just let him walk after tossing Devers just to bring him in? The hell are they doing.

Breslow keeps talking a big game but keeps refusing to pay top dollar which supposedly comes from John Henry. But, the Red Sox continue to not act like a real big market team.
If you try to be reasonable and match perfectly with the analytics on every big free agent you end up with none.
They now NEED to sign Bichette

Good for Breg, isn’t that park pretty tough on RH pull hitters? 35 AAV for 32 year old Bregman feels reckless but we will see
Not necessarily, it's tough on extreme pull hitters because Wrigley is longer (353 feet) down the left field line than any part in baseball and 40 ft longer than the Astros park down the line. But Bregs tends to pull more to the alleys where Wrigley is among the shorter distances in baseball to the left field power alley.
The wind has also blown in a good bit more than normal at Wrigley the last two years, but that could return to mean this year, no way to know.
But that aside very excited as a Cub fan that Tom finally decided to open the wallet to help make the team better and the added bonus adding a Tiger. I'm really excited - will be there opening day weekend with some LSU gear on.

Why would they get rid of either of them? Shaw will play a super utility role and make our bench that much better.

Hoerner is a FA in 2027. He is going to be 29 on Opening Day this year. He needs to be dealt for more pitching, perhaps in the bullpen.
