Jim Harbaugh had more career rushing yards than Bo Jackson.

Doug Williams had more TD passes in the 2nd quarter of SB XXII than Peyton Manning had in 16 quarters in 4 SBs.

In 2018, the Browns started the season 0-0-1, that was their best start in 14 years.

Kurt Warner only started all 16 games in a season 3 times in his career. All 3 years, his team went to the Super Bowl.

The record for longest time between completions to one receiver is held by Brett Favre. His first career completion was to himself in 1992 and he also completed a pass to himself 17 years later in 2009.

That's actually a good question, but ask Kamala. She loves Venn diagrams.

Seriously, though, I bet they were all in war-related industries that needed them more than the NFL.

Alabama's Tommy Lewis came of the bench in the '54 Cotton Bowl to tackle Rice's Dicky Meagle who was en route to another Owl's touchdown. Rice was awarded the touchdown.

St. Louis Browns manager Bill Veeck played a midget.

Eddie Gaedel, the player, was beaten to death 10 years later.

The teams with the most regular season wins in all big 4 sports has failed to win the championship that season.

1906 Chicago Cubs (116-36-3) - Lost World Series
1954 Cleveland Indians (111-43-2) - Lost World Series
2001 Seattle Mariners (116-46) - Lost ALDS

2023 Boston Bruins (65-12-5) - Lost First Round
2019 Tampa Lightning (62-16-4) - Lost First Round
1996 Detroit Red Wings (62-13-7) - Lost Conference Finals

2016 Golden State Warriors (73-9) - Lost NBA Finals

2007 New England Patriots (16-0) - Lost Super Bowl
also, no teams that have won 15 or more games since 1986 have won the Super Bowl (0-7)

More men have walked on the moon than score against him in postseason (141 appearances)

Shaquille O'Neal is supposedly a fan of EFL League One side Northampton Town.

League One is the third tier of English football.

There were seemingly minor things like having a perforated eardrum that were automatic disqualifications.

ETA working in certain critical industries-most of them probably had other jobs besides football-or being married with a family would put you in a lower draft category.

Juan Soto got his first MLB HR before his debut game.

Soto debuted on May 20, 2018, pinch hitting late in the game and striking out.

Two months later on June 18, the Nationals and Yankees resumed play of a game originally starting on May 15, 2018. Soto HR in that game.

So, his debut was on May 20, but he hit his first HR on May 15 (according to the box score).

In both the BCS title game and Super Bowl in 2006 (Jan of 2027), the opening kickoff was returned for a TD (Ohio State, Chicago Bears).

Both teams went on to lose

They also asked the Oakland public to name the team in a newspaper vote.

A little more than two weeks later, on April 5, a five-man committee dwindled the suggestions to the Admirals, Lakers, Diablos, Seagulls, Metros, Gauchos, Nuggets, Senors, Dons, Coasters, Sequoias, Missiles, Knights Redwoods, Jets, Clippers, Dolphins, and Grandees.

it was suggested for fans early on in the voting process to look for inspiration from California's rich Spanish ancestry.

In the end, the Senors were chosen as the victor.

The next day a petition appeared in the Oakland Tribune to change the name. It listed that the new name is without force, impact, local significance, or color. The name will not hold up and be subject to community ridicule.

quote:

Finally, on April 14, Oakland management bowed to public objection and changed the name to the now-familiar Raiders. The winner of the new name was Kendrick Martin, who also won a trip to Mexico. It was met with a universal appeal from the populace of the area.

Martin and 26 other contestants submitted the name Raiders and won trips to Acapulco. However, he was selected as the winner based on his reasoning why the club should adopt the name.

“Our team of supporters must be fired and inspired by a fighting name. Raiders imply early sustained offense carrying the fight to the opponent's camp.”

Absolutely insane take, not only is he the best relief pitcher of all-time, by a wide margin, but you're talking about a guy who had a 0.70 ERA in 141 postseason innings. He was nails.

Coming in in favorable positions twice a week for an inning or less does not a great pitcher make.
