Patroits believe Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL, as @MikeGarafolo reported. MRI on Monday to confirm it is torn.

Well, NE got the win today but they're screwed without Gronk going forward

that sucks for Gronk, hope he has a quick recovery

The Vereen Machine!!!
Yeah, I think that's the knockout blow to this season though.
How Belichick isn't in the discussion for Coach of the Year is beyond me. So much talent lost, and he just keeps putting scrubs in there and winning.

I feel bad for you, but at the same time this makes things much easier on my Broncos. Cincy is probably the second best team in the AFC with the current state of the Pats

Don't feel bad bud, the Red Sox just won a World Series, and I'm rocking out my CPA studying.

I bet his injury is more severe. Looked like it could be career ending. How old is he anyway?

23 or something?
I'm not a doctor, so I have no idea if it's career ending or not. Seeing how all these players have come back from pure knee destruction leads me to think it's not.

Every injury thread has to have this guy

Whens the last non neck/back injury youve seen to be career ending for a guy in his prime?
Its a torn acl, hell be back next year.

I think the lawsuits that will say "rule changes caused the death of my career" will be just as serious. people are still getting concussions, so those lawsuits won't end. they've just compounded their problem.

and everyone is blaming the new rules for it, saying that yeah you protect the head, but they have no choice but to go for the knees now
This is bullshite. Legs and head are just cheap. He knew he couldn't tackle Gronk like a man, and cheap shotted him.

What rules has the NFL implemented to assist those 'cowardly' defenders? None really but the list is too long to protect 'cowardly' Receivers & QB's:
1) Mel Blount rule implemented & Receivers cannot be bumped or impeded beyond 5 yards. Killed the big physical cornerbacks especially.
2) Same year of Blount rule(1978) offensive lineman are legally allowed to 'hold' by extending arms & literally wrestle/hold defenders as long as hands stay inside shoulders. To protect cowardly Qb's & receivers(who you can't touch) more time to run free in the secondary.
3)2004 the League cracked down on the Blount rule because offenses whined (Colts especially) that defenders were getting too physical beyond 5 yards. Especially in the post season.
4)Quarterbacks now can just ground the ball & get a do over if he is outside the tackles(2 yards) because he is 'defenseless' while he is on the run? Put a dress on the QB or red jersey won't they?
5)Quarterbacks basically have a damn strike zone in the pocket ,but the defenders who still take 'cut blocks' from 300 lb linemen are the cowards?
That's just a partial list of a few off the top of my head to protect those brave offensive players & fundamentally change the game.
Can you give me the long list of rules to help cowardly defenders? Rhetorical because there are few really.
In other words screw Gronk & his knee. He has benefited IMMENSELY(financially/statistically) from the rule changes . Let

I wouldn't say dirty. He did launch himself, and it's probably an illegal hit, but then again, he's a small guy trying to bring down Gronkowski.
DJ Swearinger for Houston did the same exact thing to Dustin Keller in the preseason. Tore all three ligaments.

But offensive lineman & TE's routinely 'cut block' defenders(I bet there is footage of Gronk himself cut. Blocking defenders).
Therea nothing dangerous, illegal, or dirty about a well formed cut block, stop talking out of your arse
Defensive lineman also cut into Offensive linemans legs to stop their progress in a pull or zone
