re: How embarrassing for Eric Bieniemy

I think there are legit reasons to be skeptical. The past baggage mentioned in this thread and also much like an OC under Sean Payton some might see this as Andy Reid's offense first and foremost and question how much Bieniemy really has control over.
And maybe he doesn't interview well?
But the media and Twitter mobs won't take kindly to mention of any of these things - it will constantly be "How has he not gotten an NFL head job yet?" The thinly veiled insinuation being - well we all know don't we? As if nothing else could possibly be in play here.

This is a great point. They are very similar besides the color of their skin.

It is a good analogy. Both probably suffer from the perception (and with honestly some foundation in reason) that their respective head coaches really run the offense.
But I would be willing to bet if they ran both names through let's say....the ESPN carwash of opinion shows that fact would be featured much more prominently in discussion of Charmichael than Bieniemy. Wouldn't you?
I mean I don't think I've ever heard during a Saints broadcast "How has Charmicheal never gotten and NFL head job?"

His name has been in the news since the 2020 season for HC jobs. It's not just this year.

Hopefully black coaches will be more successful than black quarterbacks.

What's this?

I'm not saying he's a good head coach but to say he had bad quarterbacks in Chicago is just making excuses for him. I'm not saying Trubisky was great or will turn his career around but Nagy really screwed his career. Along with Fields. I really think Fields is a bust but it's only one season and I can't say he won't do better. But being a Bears fan I would rather they drafted Jones. The organization is a mess though so I don't think he would have done what he did with the Patriots.
I can see Trubisky making a decent career for himself being away from Nagy. I hope Fields can be mediocre and decrease his turnovers. That would help with some wins.
I wish Trubisky had the backing of Nagy or a coach that would play to his strengths instead of trying to make him something he is not.

Why hasn’t this media backlash happened yet? Is it only wrong to choke a bitch when you are an NFL player or head coach, but perfectly ok as long as you’re an offensive coordinator?
If the allegations all stem from shite he did in college, this 52 year old man is good now. He’s a football coach. He’s not being vetted to be a Supreme Court Justice.

UCLA running backs coach Eric Bieniemy is expected to be called
by the Independent Investigative Commission for questioning
regarding his experiences as an assistant coach at the University
of Colorado, the Boulder Daily Camera reported.
A group appointed by the University of Colorado Board of
Regents, the commission is investigating recent allegations that
the Buffalo football program used alcohol and sex to lure
recruits.
These allegations were brought to light after a former CU
student alleged she was raped during a recruiting party.
While at CU, Bieniemy was the leading recruiter and running
backs coach for the 2001 and 2002 seasons, during the time the
student and several others alleged they were raped by
Buffalo football players

Doug Gottlieb on why he thinks Bieniemy isn't a head coach yet
I'm not the biggest Gottlieb fan, but this is what he related last January about Bieniemy.
I promise I didn't post this because of the Trump comment
But if true, it could be as simple as "what you're saying sounds good, how will you accomplish it" and Bieniemy doesn't seem to have an answer.

quote:
“I talked to three different people in three different front offices last night and I was trying to figure out ‘What’s the deal?’ No one disliked Bienemy, there was nothing in a background check that wouldn’t let you hire him, and there was nothing in regards to somebody you didn’t enjoy the conversation with. Nobody was like ‘I CAN’T WORK WITH THIS GUY.’ But it was interesting because with each different job that I had spoken to somebody about, it felt like the way in which it was described was that it wasn’t that he wasn’t prepared, or that he didn’t have a general plan, it was just that he didn’t have a lot of details to it… I don’t think anyone wants to hire a coach because social media told them to hire a coach, but I don’t think that’s an issue of why he hasn’t gotten a job yet. If people understand the level of preparedness it takes for each of these interviews and the level of detail that most of these places would like to require... Is Dan Campbell a ‘rah-rah’ guy, yeah, but you also have to factor in that the Detroit Lions don’t know who their quarterback is going to be, they had a head coach who thought he knew more than everybody, hadn’t played, and everybody disliked him. So what do you do? You bring in a guy who everybody likes, HAS played, and who just has great positive energy, as was the case with the press conference. Nick Cirianni spent time with Andy Reid too, but the difference was that he was with Frank Reich, who was the one guy who really connected with Carson Wentz, and this was all about Carson Wentz. Every guy I talked to about Bieniemy was like ‘he was good and I can see him becoming a head coach, it’s just for us there wasn’t a lot of detail, and I think it might be because he’s doing too many interviews while still having his other job.’… I would say that’s what’s holding him back from a job. It’s a little bit like Trump for the last six months of his presidency talking about how he has a ‘plan’ for healthcare and he never released it. That’s a little bit like what they felt like with Bieniemy in terms of he had the ‘ideas’ of a plan, but did not seem to have a plan on how to implement that, or in comparison to how the others he was competing against.”

If Gottleib is correct, that makes sense. Nobody is going to turn over a billion dollar franchise to someone who either isn't detail oriented or plans to learn on the job.

Reminds me of that episode of the office where Will Arnett has a three step plan to double their profits, but won't tell them about it
