Baseball was created to have the DH. No league on the planet makes the pitcher hit.

Imagine if we let golfers have the option of letting their caddies take one shot every hole… that’s as artificial as the DH
Huh? Situations are completely different

It didn’t happen until a century after the National League started… it was the ghost runner of its time (funny how we as kids could never tag or throw out a ghost runner
A “ghost” hitter, if you will

I liked it better when pitchers could hit, at least in the NL
Thanks, gramps.

Crazy idea. When the hitting pitcher comes to the plate, the opposing manager must send a position player to the mound and HIS pitcher goes to the field. Basically a switch.
When the hitting pitcher's AB is completed, the opposing manager switches his position player and pitcher back to their normal spots.
Before some cocksucker says that's the dumbest thing they've ever heard, just consider the recent rule of ghost runner in extra innings and then go frick yourself.

I don't really care anymore TBH. I'm a lifelong Reds fan, if the avatar didn't make that clear, so I've always been an NL guy..
To me....it's always been about there being 9 guys on the field...those same 9 guys should be the batting lineup. Why are pitchers suddenly magically a specialty position and the other 9 arent? I pitched all the way through high school and batter 3rd or cleanup every stop of the way.
It's a nonsense argument.
However, ultimately, the money is such that those guys are being paid to specialize and at a certain point they aren't putting in the same work to be a quality batter.
I think it's dumb things have evolved this way, but at the same time, having a guy bat who can actually hit consistently v a guy who usually strikes or grounds out is a plus.

You act 80. Baseball is having some of us best viewership in numerous years. Youth participation is surging. No one but old grumpy people want to watch the pitcher hit. Imagine a game with no ohtani, no schwaber. The ghost runner sucks but those 16 innings games suck worse. Led to injuries and wore down players

I hate the DH in the National League. And it’s not about pitchers hitting. It’s the additional strategy they removed from late game situations. Especially in post-season play and the WS. It probably cost Ron Washington a WS with the Rangers, Game 6 vs Cardinals in whatever year that was.
With how pitchers are managed, starters not going deep into games, etc; my dislike for the DH has faded some but I still miss it.

Lol I act 80 because I liked seeing pitchers hit and the strategy that went into the game on the NL side... What was the last Justin Bieber concert you attended?

You might have had one per year across all of MLB

If Shohei wants to play then he plays a position

I love the DH but I do miss the pitchers throwing on jackets to run the bases

No DH is baseball at its purest

I always put him in front of me because I was good at taking the extra base.
I also played deep rightfield because I made Chuck Knoblauch look like a Gold Glove winner.
