In fairness, we just threw this team together like a week ago. And I'm pretty sure there's video evidence of Patty Mills and Joe Ingles playing together in the 1960s.

Having two bad defensive guards with no one to protect the rim isn’t great either.

I agree and that is why giving the last spot to Love was terrible. Of the big men that were in the program, Jared Allen or Brooke Lopez would have been better options. Trae Young (unless he declined) would have been a better option than Grant. Trae is at least a guy that can create offense for others.

Trae would be a perfect fit at PG. The problem is Lloyd Pierce is on that staff. Trae will never be there as long as Pierce is there.

The biggest problem is this team doesn't have a true point guard to lead an offense. Dame isn't that guy and would be better served as a 2 guard in the international game

Honest question: Besides the Point God, How many above average to elite true point guards are even out there. Rondo is on the brink of retirement. Ben Simmons is a lol NO. Westbrook or Harden can facilitate and get alot of assists, but they're also very ball dominant, and Westbrook is a terrible decision maker.

Who am I missing?

Well, he’s Australian, so you don’t have to worry about that one.

Yeah we both know the obvious answer is CP3 but he is too old, got his gold medal, and is in a long playoff run.

But Trae and Harden are the guys that come to mind. Yes they are ball dominant, but they have the vision and creativity to make the right passes when needed. There were so many bad passes and turnovers tonight. Granted, a lot of that is only having a handful of practices, but Dame especially had some bad turnovers or just simple passes that he missed.

Harden I’m sure was asked, but coming off an injury he passed.

I do really think Jrue will help this team if he’s feeling somewhat rested.

Terrible take. What coaches have won multiple titles without superstars. Does Pop not get credit for drafting HOFers at the end of Round 1?

You don't become one of the winningest coaches of all time in both wins and championships by being an average or below average head coach.

20 straight 50 win seasons, with 6 60 win seasons in that span. He won with Timmy before his prime, during prime, and post his prime.

I agree however he has lost his touch. He should retire after this season once he becomes all time coaching wins leader.

Yeah that is what I am banking on. He's kind of the perfect guy to play next to Dam as he can really focus on the oppositions best perimeter guy. He would have been in guarding Patty Mills at the end of tonight's game.

That Spurs offense in 2014 was lethal. Their player development was great.

Pop is washed and a broken man now.

Other countries have easily closed the gap and will surpass us in basketball as long as glorified iso ball continues. This USA team has 0 chemistry and cohesiveness.
who cares. The goal is not to win gold medals in life. The goal for these guys is to make money.

If those foreign players had the athleticism of US players, they'd play more iso.

Don't watch basketball as much anymore, not for any political or other reason, just lost my interest a while back. But that guy has always been a favorite of mine. My son, who loves basketball, loves Jrue.
