What is going on in this thread? Are their morons arguing Trout wasn't a generational baseball player?

I think Griffey is romanticized post career a little bit, but he had more hits in the first 10 years of his career than Trout does now through 14 seasons

Now do outs?

I don’t think so, maybe a couple in the beginning of the thread

I think it may have been the lack of a Boston Redsox PITCHING GENE during the 40s and 50s

I was led to believe this doesn’t matter, and Teddy Ballgame should have just said “throw me the damn ball” and led his team to more wins or something

That .870 OPS is distorted by Trout's BBs (when Late & Close AND w/2 outs you desperately need a HIT from your clean-up hitter)
You can't fricking force an opposing pitcher to throw strikes to your best hitter by far

Swings at balls are usually outs. Then you'd be bitching about his AVG

The bar for retarded doesn't get any lower than this. You're underground

Mike Trout is 1 BA point from being 1 of 27 players in history to slash .300/.400/.500 for their career.

Trout has more WAR than Chipper Jones despite playing in 981 less games. That’s over 6 full seasons of games

vs Griffey, also not very close, respectively

I wasn't comparing them you pencil neck but you know that. It's an elite accomplishment. Sad that Trouts back has went to shite. At least he can DH unlike Chipper and compile some stats.

Trout to me is a weird situation where both groups are not completely wrong it’s just the saber nerds are more not wrong than the traditional hacks.

Unquestionably was the best individual player in the game and glad to say I saw him in person.

But did I really fear him as an Astros fan? No. And we saw him a lot.

Take for instance I feared Adrian Beltré a lot more.

Likely has to do with much better team and higher stakes as the have very similar career OPS vs the stros that his big hits stood out but staying in a low stakes environment is what Trout chose so he will always bear that “empty stats” knock.

With that said I agree he’s unquestionably a first ballot HOF

And if someone is going to knock a guy that sabermetrics love they are WAY better off knocking votto

There are always 3 more outs to be found against the angels. i am always grateful he stuck with the angels cause he would have been a pain in the arse on a real playoff roster, only LA or the Yankees would have made a run

Should’ve never re upped in L.A.

Why not ? Every year when the temp goes above 80°, Trout goes on the IL. It almost seems as if the Angels built vacation into Trout's contract.

he was really great but not generational. A-Rod and Pujols are examples of generational. Trout isn't on that level
