Six teams still need a SS and they are all talking to Xander Bogaerts now. Red Sox, Padres, Cubs are among them.

Tough day for Giants president Farhan Zaidi, who didn’t get Aaron Judge and also didn’t get to see the Rule 5 draft in person. The room was at capacity and the fire marshal was turning people away. Zaidi followed it on his phone. (The Giants didn’t take anyone.)

Padres are really upset at the Dodgers. LOL

The length of these contracts are absurd

According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers are not pursuing Correa "in part out of concern that a sizable portion of their fan base would not welcome the move." That is due to the fact, as Rosenthal says, that Correa was "the most outspoken member" of the 2017 Houston Astros team that was found guilty of illegally stealing signs. That Astros team, of course, beat the Dodgers in that year's World Series.

11 years for a 30 yo SS who probably has 3-4 good years left at the position? They're going to be paying the guy $25.5 million a year until he's 41. That's insane

What a crazy world we live in when the Padres keep spending like the big boys. And the Red Sox keep losing their stars. Though I can't really blame them not matching this.

Yeah, I would have been pissed if we offered anything close to that.

That's just irresponsible. 11 years? He's 30 years old! they are already have 11 left on Tatis - which has not started well, but at least he's young.

He will be at 2B within 3 years anyway, he isn't a great SS. I think this season he posted a + DRS but has been negative the prior seasons.

Yeah that long contract that signed with Tatis is gonna be fun. It hasn't started well at all now they are bringing in someone to take his position I'm sure the clubhouse will be a joy to work in. Just 11 more years!!

Plan has been to move Tatis to the OF anyway so he isn't taking his position exactly. However, the rationale I'm seeing if they believe Machado is going to opt out after next season and the following one Soto is a free agent. So they now have Xander long term with Tatis at least.

Looks like Boston was offering around 6/$162 with willingness to improve on that which is a fair enough offer for Bogey imo. Don't blame him at all for taking that deal from the Padres, but very happy we didn't get stupid and offer anything near where they went. 8/$200 is the absolute highest I think I would've gone.

Curious to see how we pivot now. Do we go the Correa/Dansby route?

Move Story to SS, Kike to 2B and go after Nimmo?

Move Story to SS with Arroyo at 2B and Kike in CF?

We have 39 on our 40 man with Martin, Jansen and Yoshi still needing to be added so there are definitely trades coming. Do we add a SS that way?

We are still expected to sign (or trade for) at least one more SP and DH. At least that was the plan ahead of the Bogey news.

They should just slide Story over to SS unless he’s still struggling because of the elbow injury. Aside from that he was a solid defensive SS. Boston seems like a good spot for Segura
