Part of why I like the CFB more than NFL football is because the NFL seems so predictable from play to play. It's seems so damn hard to run the ball. Seems like this cuts out exciting plays in the NFL, that happen in the college game. The gap in talent in college allows for more crazy stuff to happen, and allows players to make impacts in the game.
Just feels like I'm watching the same game each time I turn on an NFL contest.
There is some truth in that. NFL games can look kind of sterile. But college football has always been prone to ridiculous blowouts where the second half becomes a formality.
But, taking a step back from the on field product, a glaring difference I see is that the best college games are almost always on TV. This is a relatively recent phenomenon, with so many networks now broadcasting college football (unlike the old regional ABC days). Meanwhile the NFL is still putting out their boring 2/1 regional Sunday afternoon schedule (sometimes 1/1). I get virtually the same teams every Sunday afternoon. That is just not enough to maintain my interest and invest my time.
I can look at the weekend college football schedule and pick out half a dozen games I want to watch. I can rely on this and it becomes part of my weekly schedule. There might be 1-2 NFL games worth watching, but it is hit or miss to the point that I just don't even bother anymore when I have already gotten my fill on Saturday.

If the NFL fails college football as we know it today goes with it.
I'd be fine with college football become a university activity instead of minor league NFL.
NFL won't fail. But I'd love to see it take a big hit in order for long term better product. Right now it is business first, sports second. The reverse would be nice.

Say what you want but the Cowboys really are america's team
Packers might be a better candidate for that honor.

See this is exactly why I DON'T like CFB as much as the NFL. The talent gap is just so stupid. It's a great sport if you follow a team that has a good history and just gets good recruits simply for existing (which you do, being a Bama fan). For everyone else it's just a game of catch up. No one in the country will ever have as much talent as the top, the only way they can become relevant is by scheming/great coaching which is hit or miss.
I like everyone having closer to a level playing field when it comes to acquiring talent.

The NFL is missing the boat with having all of the games on at the same time. They really should stagger the game and stop with this regional broadcast bullshite.

Of course, the reason they have it as is is so they can exploit things like the Sunday NFL Ticket or whatever other crazy expensive thing. The team I want to watch (Carolina) may simply not be on in my area, so *cough* other methods *cough* may have to be used to watch it. I really think the NFL would benefit by ditching at least some of the regional nonsense, but it's all $$$.

Check out this clip from NBC in the mid 90's. THIS is how a game should start.
Because it was all about the SPORT of football. Not the sterile/corporate Carrie Underwood crossover appeal.

I'm sorry but just how in the frick did NBC pick this Cowboys-Bears game for primetime? Did anyone not think the Bears were going to be complete shite this year

The Bears are the team you have the beef with?
The Cowboys were FOUR AND frickING TWELVE last year, and this year they have 11 games that are either nationally televised, in primetime, or are in the feature 3:25 slot for a national doubleheader.
They get ratings, blah blah blah. I'm not watching them on general principle at this point. Because teams with .250 winning percentages don't deserve to have 70 percent of their games in priority spots. This is an issue with the NFL that affects my viewership, even though there aren't a lot of people who agree with me. It's like a team like the Jaguars could say "frick it. We could win 6 Super Bowls in a row and the TV suits are still going to pick the NFC East teams for primetime ahead of us."

Idk. Just stating why I like NFL more.

I've come to accept SNF is going to feature the cowboys as much as possible, but I really don't understand what they saw in this match up.

They keep trying to tweek the game while keeping all the old routines for nostalgia...XP, but make it farther. They don't want kick-offs but still want to start the game that way.
If they want to make kicking more difficult and increase the interest in strategy for offense and defense and re-invigorate the game...
Why not go back to the old hash-marks like college? Or better yet high school hash marks. Used to be in the NFL, where the ball was ruled dead that is where you kicked and ran the next play...that wouldn't work today with our LOS rules...
But the high school hash marks would make kicks more difficult like Aussie Rules or Rugby where they have to kick at crazy angles.
I mean, what's the point of the NFL hash marks? They are a joke, they don't make the horizontal field any sort of strategy? Might as well just put the ball in the middle of the field on every play (which is essentially what they do).
Pushing teams more to the sideline changes the dynamics of everything...but of course, the NFL would never allow part of the field to not be wide open...they want everything wide open and free and easy.
And easy is boring as hell...because strategy is wanting.

Exactly this. All the Cowboys games are overkill. Give viewers more variety.
I didn't turn the Thursday night game on until the college game was over. So why is next Thursday NFL Network? Stop moving the games around to another channel every other week.
I'm just getting sick of the greed in the NFL. Stadiums only 2 decades old aren't good enough anymore. Scumbag owners con their way into thinking they care about fans. Cost of going to games is sometimes ridiculous. Games have to be played in London every year. Idiotic rule changes every year. Yeah, I'm starting to like college football more and more.

Another week, yet another drop in ratings.
Obviously the MNF game was going to get crushed, we all knew that going up against the debate. ESPN has to be losing their asses this year, it was down 37% from last week and possibly hit an all time MNF low.
Per CBS Local
The author mixed up what network the Eagles were on, it was on CBS not Fox, but the numbers are still authentic.
Fox's early game slot of the Redskins vs Giants, 2 huge markets with marquee teams, was the only slot of the whole weekend and Monday that was up and only by 3%.

Sports Business Daily reported Monday that the overnight ratings for Sunday Night Football between the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears drew 18.62 million viewers and scored a 12.9 in the Neilsen ratings, which is down from 13.7 in Week 2 and 13.9 in Week 3 a year ago. Elsewhere, the early-afternoon regional slate of games on CBS dropped by 18 percent compared to Week 3 last season while FOX’s 4:25 p.m. game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles (which saw Philly win in a surprisingly one-sided affair) dropped by 1 percent from the same time slot last season. The lone bright spot was FOX’s early-afternoon slot, which went up by about 3 percent.

This guy knows what is going on. Check the NFL standings, all big market teams. The NFL is a business, a huge profit business. Refs and replays have their place in seeing it plays out exactly how the NFL wants it to play out.
I saw a catch by Hopkins (Texans) TD, not after replay. And that's just one example.

I used to watch the NFL religiously, don't remember when I last watched a full game.
As other have said above I just find NFL to be very sterile and boring.
I enjoy college football way more than pro ball. Just find the atmosphere to be much better. Enjoy the much larger variety in offenses and enjoy the different venues. I enjoy watching the smaller school take on the larger schools. Just pretty much every aspect of college ball vs pro ball.
I find the NFL feels way to "corporate" now.

Example of keeping a team in the game.
Which helped KC have the chance to come back into the game at the end. It's exciting and good tv for the NFL. Not to mention Vegas. I'm pretty convinced the NFL has to authorize a blow out. Another reason most teams go around .500.
I tried to look up the play on YouTube but it's probably not there, it's not in the highlights. I saw a NFL 30 second Fanactics ad before it. Philly was the first jersey shown, hint hint. People watch the games and say dam that was a TD catch, but that's as far as it goes. Evaporated.
