Notre Dame needs to schedule stronger independents and keep their schedule strong

????

The only other independent in 2025 is UConn. This isn’t the 80s when P4 level teams were independents

And uneducated posters here talk shite about ND’s schedule but their G5 cupcake is Boise State

I mean they are two plays away from being 2-0 and arguably deserving of #1. IMO they shouldn’t be top 25 but it’s not the craziest thing ever

This. 0-2 is a lazy argument. There's a slew of teams in the top 25 they boatrace 7 times outta 10.

I understand this reasoning, but how do they look? I only saw them play against Miami and didn’t watch any of the A&M game as I was at the Florida game, but looking s at highlights and stats on ESPN, their defense looks like it can’t stop a cold

They lost twice and have yet to win a game in this calendar year.

Rankings right now don't mean anything cause wwe are still 2+ games away from actually knowing anything

They play no one of any significance for the rest of the season outside of maybe USC. They’ll sneak into the playoffs completely unjustifiably.

And they’ll somehow set it up that Penn st or slowhio plays them

Any other season I'd usually agree with this sentiment but I don't think its justified this year.

quote:

They lost to the #4 and #10 teams by a combined 4 points.

You probably aren't finding 23 other teams that will either beat both/ 1 of those teams or only lose both games by 4 points total.

I hate how they always keep Notre Dame relevant but #24 is completely justifiable this season at this time.

How many "close" losses to good teams does it take?
At some point don't wins and losses matter?

Stop They are 0-2. Sure, they lost to two good teams, but they lost. You want to stay ranked, you don't lose your first two games. This is college football, losses still need to mean something. Completely retarded they are still ranked.

They absolutely deserved to be ranked. Does any other team already have two quality losses?

I think standings are what y'all are looking for. These are rankings. There are not 25 better teams than ND in the country and like I said before I would actually have them higher like around 20 or so.

Ehh so what?

What is the point to a current top 25 poll if we are just going to go "Oh well this is a name team that has lots of good recruits so who cares what the results are?"

If this was a team like Indiana their asses wouldn't even be receiving votes anymore.

The biggest issue that has always caused teams to get screwed late in the year when it comes to bowls and now the playoff is poll inertia b/c people don't want to admit their initial predictions were wrong.

I’d rather have Notre Dame‘s offense than ours (and their OC).

I'm sorry but this is just a retarded statement. So if they were to lose vs #1 and #2 teams in college football by a few points then they don't deserve to be ranked? If this is the case then there's about 4-5 SEC and 3-4 BIG Ten teams that shouldn't be ranked every year. And you'd replace them with absolutely no one because every other team would also have 2 losses against even shittier competition.

So there should just be 3-4 ranked teams every year in the top 25 and that's it? And a team that plays garbage teams and goes undefeated should be ranked higher than a team that lost by 4pts combined against 2 top 10 teams?

I understand the history behind this conversation but this is not the year to argue about this and y'all sound dumb.

Clemson. And guess what, Clemson isn't ranked anymore.

That's not what happened, so what does that matter?

Look, ND being ranked or unranked this week doesn't really matter because even if they weren't, in a week or two they would be back in the rankings. But two weeks in I know everything I need to know about ND. They have already lost the two hardest games on their schedule. They have an extremely weak schedule and the best possible thing they can say now for the rest of the year is "we almost beat two good teams".

I'm sure they'll throw Boise back in the rankings or maybe USC or NC St might hang around and be ranked so ND can have another ranked team on the schedule but their schedule is Charmin soft from here on out.

Unless USC turns out to be pretty solid and ND beats them, there's literally nothing ND can do from here on out for it to be impressive. So I guess we can congratulate them for almost beating Texas ATM.
