I don't blame them one bit. Bama should not be included and as long as they keep getting preferntial treatment not afforded other schools frick bowl games.

Notre Dame was used to getting that preferential treatment.

Kind of bitchy but by the same token, we preach how these games are worthless now, so can’t get pissed when the teams have the same attitude

My first reaction was to call them pussies. But after some thought they probably are doing the right thing. The committee fricked them over by putting in an undeserving Alabama team. The committee's decision is capricious, arbitrary, and self-serving. They fricked FSU a few years ago, and Notre Dame this year, all to suck SEC dick for the money.

They are absolutely right to sit it out.

1) ESPN profited off of the engagement from the debates about if ND will make it. Even if this impacts ESPN’s bowl viewership 1% it’s something. Bevacqua is absolutely right that ESPN rug pulled a bunch of kids for views. Sure get the laughs at ND fans, but the team was told all season they were in the playoffs for the committee to yank it away with the shittest of all attempts at justification.
2) The stars going to the NFL weren’t playing.
3) The ACC actively campaigned against them, but profits off their bowl tie in that ND plays in. Being a cuck would be making the ACC money after they spent the last month talking shite about you.
4) Keeping the returning players healthy, all who have big game experience, is more important than a meaningless game
5) If they lose with a C team then the narrative they didn’t belong is amplified, and if they win then “it’s a meaningless bowl” so all risk and no reward.

Only counter argument I agree with is that they lose practice time for the younger guys.

With player opt outs, Bowl Games are worse than NFL preseason games

At least you can reasonably expect to see the occasional star player in the Preseason.

I'm wondering behind the scenes how strained NDs relationship is wi th the ACC at this point.

Why 24?

Why not 36?

The doomsayers were right about everything. Paying players, allowing transfers, big playoffs. They've all been a disaster for the essence of college football.
Vindication.

I can proudly say that I've never given 2 fricks about NCAA sports and gladly laugh in their general direction. They will reap what they sow.

ND is mad that the ACC advocated for a team that’s actually in their conference rather than them?

New AD and HC since the deal was signed. Maybe the Covid year bringing in ND bought them some good will, but the ACC is burning all their bridges this season.

Have Narduzzi talking shite, Cristobal talking shite, the ESPN announcing teams have been anti-ND very vocally all season, and some absolutely questionable officiating in ACC games (roughing the passer call that kept a BC drive alive is first one that comes to mind). There was some issues with the bowl game selection in 2023 as well where they rug pulled ND and sent the to the Sun Bowl instead of the Pop Tart bowl.

The ND side isn’t very happy for sure.

Don’t blame ND at all. Broken system based on opinions, biases & shoo-ins vs game results. CFB is strangling itself to death.

It’s almost a certainty that this would be a default by the ACC under their deal with ND. So yes, typically institutions are “mad” when a contract is breached, and there are damages associated. I’m surprised that this escapes so many people.

The ACC sure loves ND when it is beneficial for them, but turns on them anytime it’s convenient.

Part of the “weak schedule” is the ACC’s fault as well. BC, Syracuse, and NC State were all part of their deal. Look at the crap teams they have from the ACC next season. The deal was worth it when Clemson was good and Jimbo was at FSU, but the ACC is atrocious now, and there’s not really any hope it’s better going forward.

In '95 6-4-1 Notre Dame played the #4 ranked team in the country in the Fiesta Bowl but the system was fine then.

I would like to Preface my comments by saying that I have NO animosity to Miami, Bama or anyone in the Playoffs…. My beef is not with you, it’s with the System:

1.) It’s been obvious for awhile that the fix has been in. Last week, Bama played poorly against a mediocre Auburn while ND pounded a mediocre Stanford…... yet ND switched places with Bama and was dropped to 10. At the same time Miami is moved up and JMU was moved up to 25.

2.) All week, Booger, Joey, Kirk and the rest of the talking heads in DISNEY/ESPN switched from building ND up to “head to head is important”.The narrative was exactly the same….. I thought I was watching the mainstream media on CNN or FOX slanting the story….. Instead I was watching the mainstream sports media trying to persuade college footballl fans to not trust their lying eyes. BTW, Booger, etc. we don’t need your fake concern after we’re left out.

3.) The ACC has not had our back all season. If you think SEC refs suck, watch an.ND game when we are playing an ACC game with ACC refs. BTW, the ACC gets more from Notre Dame than we get from the ACC. I wouldn’t be surprised if ND is “exploring their options”…. ND already plays hockey in the Big. 10. The ACC needs us more than we need them. BTW, our schedule sucks because we have to play 5 ACC teams a year.

4.) We don’t need DISNEY’s money this bowl season. ND alums and friends of the Irish are already writing checks so ND isn’t impacted financialy.

5.) I feel the most sorry for the players….. they don’t deserve this corrupt system.

6.) I also feel sorry for TRUE college football fans. Imagine how awesome if ND played Oregon instead of the DEI inclusion team JMU. ND or Oregon would then play Texas Tech in the next game.
