Yeah, MLB is about the only sport I watch, but I'm almost hoping for a lockout since the Dodgers are making a mockery of the game.

Other teams are free to spend money too, but they choose not to. Now in 2056 the Dodgers will be fricked.

Other teams are free to skirt the luxury tax too. They just choose not to.
I know the average Dodger fan isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed…but even your regular avg fan has to see that this is bad for the overall game.
Buying a championship contending team every season is not actually competitive.

Oh I know, it was a joke Jethro. And the amount of revenue they are making just on Japanese rights has paid for Ohtani, Yamamato and Rokis contracts already. People are pisces because The Dodgers are better at business than they are at baseball. The Yankees could easily do what the Dodgers are doing as well as the Giants and Cubs. But they don't seem to have the ingenuity or the stomach for it. The Dodgers didn't invent deferred contracts, they've been around for many years.

No I see it as the opposite, this is going to force a lockout at the end of the season. Maybe even lose the entire 2027 season. It's absolutely amazing.
At that point we all win. The Dodgers get to sit at home with no league to play in and the rest get to wait for major changes before it returns.

That would be ideal. But the mlb players union is basically undefeated so while canceling the entire 2027 season would be great if it actually fixed this mess… I’m not holding my breath.

They really are just full steam ahead into the lockout after this years WS. Going to be interesting to see how the Dodgers handle this when the salary cap comes in at 35% of what their payroll is right now.

Not if Livvy has anything to say about it
She's from Jersey. And they already tried to purchase Babe Ruth's home (denied for the time being). Then bought another New York penthouse.
He's either a Yankee or a Met in a few years

It’s like college sports now with nil
Certain teams have more $ to spend
Dodgers don’t need minor leagues
Other teams are the minor leagues and Japan is now their development system

Looking forward to the lockout at this point. I hope they shut it down for more than a year.

What I don’t understand is sure I get blaming the dodgers, but why aren’t the other big market teams even attempting to compete? Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, Astros, etc

You're right. He's worth $120 million a year.
Because the Dodgers are over the top tax threshold, Tucker's salary is taxed at 100% -- so it will cost them $120MM.

Don’t blame the Dodgers. Blame everyone else.
They’re really good at that.
From a “spirit of the game” standpoint, doing all this payroll shite and stacking the team is way more damaging to the game than banging on trashcans.

Because they’re cheap bastards and all waiting on the salary cap after this season. Won’t do dick to LA who is locked and loaded for at least another 5 years.
