Game 7 of the 91 WS is to me.

Best I've seen. Wish I didn't see it now this morning

I tell you what. Outside of that closer, it's hard not to like these Cubs players.
Like that Rajai Davis too.

Game 6 of that series was probably even better.
actually that whole damn series was freaking amazing.
5 of the 7 games were decided by 1 run, 3 of them in extra innings.

why do things always have to be greatest EVER? how about it was just a fantastic game?

I've never been so focused on a sporting event where I had no team involved. Not a huge MLB fan, in fact that was the only game I watched this year. But that was one of the greatest games I've had the pleasure of ever watching.

I mean, I'm sorry you feel that way, I guess.
The Red Sox down 3-0 facing one of, if not the most dominant closer/pitchers of all time. Going up against a team that had won 101 games along with 26 (at the time?) Rings. Couple that with the fact that the Yankees are their most hated rivals, the bloody sock, what happened the year before, etc. Yeah, I'd say those three top this one.

Only thing is: it's was an easy victory if the Cubs manager doesn't get in the way of it.
They won in spite of him.
All this, but it was a great game either way! Maybe the greatest!

I always rated the 75 Sox/Reds World Series as the best I've ever seen.
I'm too biased to render an opinion as to how this one compares but I would say pretty favorably.

Most people will say it's hyperbole or recency bias, or bias in general from cubs fans like me, but I really think it was. When non-baseball fans watch a game and can't get over the intensity and excitement of it...that says a lot.
But it doesn't really matter what everyone thinks...it's just opinion.

Everyone knows the most recent big game by their favored team is the greatest game ever.

Greatest games ever don't have rain stoppages during the climax
Peak excitement and the game goes to a twenty minute rain delay
Only in baseball. Just lol

Christ I think even golf would have played the game out during the rain
Between that and the dozens of stoppages for other mundane reasons that game was not enjoyable and took entirely too long

I totally agree. Maddon stepped all over his dick all night and his players pulled him out.
Him pulling the Professor when he did was the height of idiocy. Dude was just getting his groove, the ump hoses him on a strike 3 then Joe takes him out.
I love Joe but man I was furious and thought it would cost the Cubs the World Series. He should have pitched the Professor until his pitch count got to 120. They weren't going to score on him any more.

Three things hurt it, but we're honestly just splitting hairs here.
A) it was a sloppy game. Errors, poor calls, poor management, etc.
B) the ending was anticlimactic. No strike out. No walk off. Slow roller on the second or third pitch of the at bat. Ho hum.
C) a fricking rain delay going into extras.
Some of those things added to the drama - errors for instance - and it was an all timer no doubt, but that is tough to overcome for GOAT game.

No game 6 can come close. The rain delay took this one to a whole new level
Great game last night, but are you shitting me about game 6? Cardinals down to their last strike twice and come through, Justin Hamilton, who had been struggling, comes through with a go ahead 2 run bomb in the top of the 10th, Freese walks it off in the 11th. I won't argue it against this game just yet because emotions are still running high and we won't get anywhere, but 2011 game 6 is definitely close to the top.
