Have a hard time seeing any top tier candidate wanting that job. Nebraska is a dead program.

I remember when people said the same thing about OU back in the 90s

Meyer will be in Lincoln next weekend. Could be an audition.

They should hire Freeze or Kendal Briles, but Nebraska will consider themselves above them.

Put me down for Jim Leonhard - DC at Wisconsin

They’re looking for a proven winner, not someone looking to take the next step on the coaching ladder.

He wants only one HC job and that is at Wisconsin. Paul Chryst gets fired at some point this season and he takes over.

Also look at Rich Rodriguez
His offense would have a chance there

They fired their last proven winner and it's a hard job. I think they'll struggle to attract a major candidate

Urban might have to if he ever wants to coach again. A desperate blue blood is the perfect combination. ND and USC are still too proud for urban. But Nebraska might overlook his past so they can win.

Meyer would be incredibly interesting, but it ain’t happening.

Nebraska had their chance in 2014. He’s mot leaving now. He’s probably retiring in the next 2-3 years.

Ed Orgeron (I personally wouldn't want him as HC, but possibly DC for his recruiting ability)

He’s never been a DC in his life. That would be an unmitigated disaster. Now AHC/DL, that would be be a solid hire.

Well, if the rumor is true that it’s someone currently not coaching, who does that leave?

Meyer
Herman
Mullen
O
Petersen

Anybody else?

They just signed the new TV deal, Nebraska has plenty of $, and the B1G west isn’t hard to win. There will be interest.

Petersen would actually be a great hire but if the pressure at Washington was too much, I don't think Nebraska is the place for him

VT hired a DC. Oklahoma hired a DC. Arkansas hired a oline coach. Hiring a proven winner is incredibly difficult, even with a ton of money

Why would Rhule leave an NFL head coaching job for Nebraska?

The belief was that he’ll be fired after the season.

Doubtful that Nebraska waits that long
