Right. They have no incentive at all to tank.

Lebron James teams are not known for patience and letting things unfold. He demands moves be made and they get made.

As to why they're in this situation. Continuing to compound mistake after mistake trying to compete like this

The strangest thing to me is his FT shooting. It's so perplexing.

They changed some rules to speed up the game they put him out of his rhythm.

This is bullshite. He was a great player who developed bad habits and not his game. When the bitch KD left, he did get too much credit but he was still great/elite. But bad habits + insane ego + losing athleticism doesn't age well.

Or…you’re a poor evaluator what a winning player looks like.

How’s Eric Gordon looking these days?

Lakers would be relatively ok with Hield and Turner instead of Westbrook.

relatively ok.

so no top 4 home series in round one? why bother?
keep those 27 29 picks.

The correct response. As an off shoot of insane ego I will add "can't adjust to lower usage rates". This is one of the main reason talented players fail in the NBA. They are used to being the dominant player at every level of ball, then they get to NBA and can't make the adjustment to not being the best player on the court. For Russ its just happening later in his career.

We say "3 and D" like its every player's aspiration growing up, but in reality most of these dudes are superstars at every level and have to change their game and mentality to play defense every play, then run to the corner and stand and wait for the ball.

But you'd think after a few years he could fix that. I mean his FTs went from really good to shite and he never worked on it.

Clearest sign of him saying "frick it" to working on his game and since then he's devolved bigly

Suffered a career-diverting injury but still has been a productive player in spite of it

Very nice contribution.

Not everyone can be an Iggy, Vince Carter, or Grant Hill in their later years.

For example, Lebron hasn't shown that he can change. He's just one of the GOATs so he can continue (at least on one side of the ball) late into his career as a ball dominant guy.

I cannot see the Los Angeles Lakers, with Lebron James in his last year or two, and Anthony Davis, just conceding an entire season.

They are going to make an all move, they are almost forced to.

The counter point is that the writing for this season is already on the wall-- there is no way to restructure this into a contender.

They do need a bunch of things, though-- the first and most fortunate they have, is that LeBron isn't looking at getting out of the game, nor necessarily LA. Giving him a plan going forward is going to matter, as well as giving him a scapegoat for things not coming around this season-- and with Vogel now gone, Westbrook becomes the designated bullet catcher

Nope. OKC was good because KD was an incredibly efficient player and could mitigate a lot of Russ’s inefficiency, plus they had other great players at other positions like Ibaka and Harden.

Russ can win you games when he has a hot shooting game. But he can also lose you a lot of games with horrific shooting games. That’s why he’ll always have a ceiling. He can make bad teams better by winning games when he’s hot, but he brings down a good team’s ability to be great with his bad shooting games.
