WTF happened to the Yankees in the 5th inning? Pressure?

Baseball is a strange game. They were rolling at that point and boom....a mistake and then another mistake and then another mistake. I don't think it was pressure, it was the baseball gods rewarding the superior team.

By the top of the 5th, down 5-0, I was already thinking, "well, we're going to LA for game 6". Then WHAM!

#metoo I watch the games, all sports, down in my home office. So after the Yankees went up 5-0 I just started working and got some stuff done. I was OK going back to LA 3-2. Then I picked up my guitar and started noodling around and boom, we score 5 runs. So I had to play for the next 4 innings.

Same, baw. I began helping my kid with some science homework and started that process with it 5-0. By the time we finished the worksheet it was 5-5. I told her… “that’s why I love baseball.” You never know.

It was less about pressure and more about focus.
The Yankees don’t consistently do the little things right, and it’s justice that it caused them this huge embarrassment on the biggest stage.
Boone needs to go.

The pitcher not making a run to 1st to make that last out in the inning.
Cole should have started over there, but that play is on Rizzo. You don’t sit back on weakly hit ground balls. He should have charged that and fielded it near the bag. That’s what Cole rightly expected.
Maybe he didn’t charge it because he’s an overweight 35 year old (who can’t hit home runs).

rizzo played the ball poorly but in that spot, his job is to field it. Two runs score if it goes by him. Can't risk a bad hop
Cole has to be there until he is called off. No way rizzo was getting to beat out mookie the way he fielded it.
Maybe if it was Bregman Rizzo gets there.

The baseball gods put their foot down in this inning and made it clear the Yankees were not supposed to win. Too many fricked-up things happened, all in a row.

Exactly. Strange that in the 1st inning was the exact same situation. Handled differently of course and the out was made.
