quote:The tension builds at the end with deceit, murder, patriotism, hope, forgiveness and sacrifice all mixed together in an emotional tug of war cloaked in the veil of overcoming Nazi terrorism. It's comfort food for my soul every time I watch it.
Casablanca is one of those films you watch over and over and catch something new every time

"Round up the usual suspects".

quote:the original version had Ingrid Bergman pull a train with the Nazis so Bogart could leave town with his "companion" the police captain
Will it be edited for tv? Like is there anything in the actual movie that might be edited for a TV
This entire subplot was cut from later reissues

There’s really nothing to edit for tv.

Almost a perfect movie!
“She tried to convince me she still loved me. I let her try”??

Yes but aside from maybe “Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn” is it the type of movie you can quote ? It’s not a knock not every movie is as quotable
---Tomorrow is another day
---As God is my witness, I'll never go hungry again!
---I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies!

Rick: “That’s so long ago, I don’t remember.”
Yvonne: “Will I see you tonight?”
Rick: “I never make plans that far ahead.”
Cold, Rick. Cold.

I should know better than to get in these debates since despite saying it’s not a knock on the movie some one always takes it personally
also I said “maybe” the first truly quotable movie”
However the next time I hear someone say….
Great lines =/= “quotable”
ETA the AFI top 100 movie quotes “Frankly my dear….” was #1 there are 3 from GWTW and 6 from Casablanca

Big Sam's "Horse make tracks!" is my favorite Gone with the Wind quote.
