I have not watched the special but leaks are out about his comments on Kirk.

Definitely didn't go after Charlie Kirk. He just said he's no MLK. Though I personally haven't heard anyone compare Kirk to MLK. I'm sure there are some that have though. But he quieted the crowd and told them "No no no" when he first mentioned Kirk and some in the audience started to yell.

I'd rather a standup comedian not be scared to comment on any subject. He just applied to it if Charlie Kirk can get shot, anybody can get shot, so it scared him. Probably the funniest part of the entire standup (so far) for me was when he was talking about what all the shooter wrote on the bullet. "When I saw what he wrote on there, I'm like how do write that much on a bullet? Was this ni**a a watchmaker?"

If he says anything about Charlie then Trump needs to get involved and shut this down.

I don't know much about Charlie Kirk but this seems like the opposite of what he believed in.

This one almost didn’t feel like a comedy show, but story time with a few one liners mixed in. I don’t know what those people paid for tickets, but I bet some of them left thinking they didn’t get their money’s worth.

I felt that way when I saw Gabriel Iglesias a couple years back.

Jeff Dunham and Jeff Foxworthy delivered when I saw them though.

At the Riyadh Comedy Festival in Saudi Arabia, Dave joked that “it’s easier to talk here than it is in America,” implying he faced fewer limits on controversial material there than in the U.S. Maher quipping that if Chappelle believed Saudi Arabia had more free speech, he should try doing a bit about Muhammad there.

Maher hit the nail on the head here. Praising the ME is the cool thing to do these days, but the people praising them don't realize that people there do not align with 99% of what we believe in over here

Fwiw Ricky Gervais has a new special coming out 12/30. I can almost guarantee you it’ll be much funnier than the political sermon Dave just served up. For my money Gervais doesn’t miss very often

Subjectively speaking of course, Im sure there’s people in here that don’t find him funny etc. personally I love Gervais’ specials

the fact that you think any ignorance came from a jersey shows your ignorance.

This post shows your ignorance in relation to not understanding the ignorance of wearing the jersey or an ignorant person.

Chappell has reached his old, bitter comic stage.

His arc is the same as Carlin’s. Transitioning from comedy to social/political commentary.

It’s not. It’s political/racial grandstanding that’s better fit for a campaign rally than a comedy show.

Killin them Softly is my favorite comedy special of all time...that being said the Chappelle netflix era freaking stinks. I'm happy for him that he can do whatever he wants on stage but this isn't standup.

Chappelle is one of the great comedians of all time.

But this show was dog shite. Don't remember laughing once and scrolled on TD for a lot of it.

I’m glad I saw Dave Chappelle live before he became a unfunny political bum

Also glad my generation grew up during his comedy sketches. I feel bad for this generation.

Agree 100%. Maher was right in what he said, but Chappelle has been a Muslim since around 1997 or 1998 and Bill Maher hurt his feelings with that joke. So in a sense, Chappelle is no different than all the people he has made fun of throughout his career. Which just goes to show that it hurts when it's YOU on the receiving end of the biting comment, no matter how true or funny it is.

This is his worst stand up yet. And that’s coming from a Chapelle fan.

There's plenty of legitimate gripes to be had and hypocrisies to tackle in the US, but trying to claim you think you have more freedom of speech in Saudi Arabia than here is like so fricking off the reservation it invalidates pretty much any other point you think you are making.

The term false equivalence gets thrown around a lot but that's pretty much one of the most eggregious examples you'll ever hear.
