I think it was a ballsy decision and Jane Leeves was a champ for going through with it.
I absolutely love the episode ("Daphne Returns"?) where she comes back and they unpack all the issues that Nile's secret adoration would have led to in the real world, instead of pretending it was a fairy tale romance.

maybe a stupid question but what other alternatives are there..just have her go to Europe for a while or never show her in the room or something?

Yeah, probably. I think that's what they did in Married With Children when IRL Peggy was pregnant

My favorite is when the parrot perched on top of Niles’ head and won’t let go. They are hosting a party and he puts the napkin over it to try to get it to go to sleep.
The parrot repeats everything and gets Frasier in trouble with his date

Watched that one oh hulu yesterday
Also season 5 Niles throws a halloween party, gets drunk, and thinks Daphne is pregnant though it’s really Roz. Hilarious.

I thought this was a good spot for this article.

You had to be somewhat intelligent to get this show.

Though its format may be standard sitcom stuff, “Frasier” was not afraid to take risks.

An Oral History of Frasier
Some great stuff in there about the adoration Kelsey and David had for John Mahoney.
I had forgotten one of the co-creators and his wife died on 9/11.

That’s a great read. I never thought of Frasier being the center between Niles and Martin.

Great read..Frasier is my favorite sitcom, I watched it when it was on the air and numerous times over the years on DVD and then Netflix, I started a re-watch again because of this thread and I am on season 7 and it still remains just as funny as the first time I watched it.

The writing and dialogue between Frasier and Niles is off the charts.
