So is Russell Crowe confirmed to play the mentor-Ramirez character?

Hopefully he gets decapitated atop a crumbling staircase in epic fashion.

That moment crushed me in the original when Connery got killed.

Is Bautista big enough to play Kurgen?

I know he looks so small, but he is still 6'4. Shows how big he used to be. The OG Kurgen actor was 6'3 (thought he was bigger) so it might work

I'm a fan of Cavill, and I hope it's awesome. Will be hard to match the original though.

Normally I'm against remakes, but if there was a movie that deserved a big budget facelift it's Highlander...

*IF* they do it correctly.

So far this one does look pretty good.

Agree. Lambert was fine in the original, but, let's face it, he wasn't the most talented actor of his generation.

I mean outside of Highlander and Mortal Kombat, is he in any movie that's particularly well-remembered?

I used to joke that the way you knew Mortal Kmobat: Annihilation was bad even before it was released was that even Lambert turned it down... and he agreed to Highlander 2.

He made his bones in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan. His big film was going to be Puzo's The Sicilian, but the studio butchered that into nothingness.

Come on. We can say it. He was terrible.

I love the original movie. I watched 100x as a kid. Its ok to admit that he was a terrible actor.

It was one of the reasons it was so lovable. It felt like a low budget, poorly acted, punching above its weight class, high concept action film.

He fit. Intensity is not something most actors can do and he handled it. But really, two things drove Highlander... unique visuals and music. If you try and just make a conventional sci-fi/action movie out of it, I think you lose its charm. Also, Clancy Brown mixed comedy and menace in a way I know that wrestler can't match. Hopefully Cavill can compensate. I'll definitely watch.

Clancy Brown was so good in the original! I saw a behind the scenes video that said that Brown scared the shite out of the crew because he was so good as Kurgan.

Just watched Highlander for the first time a few days ago because of this thread. Ricky Bobby was right. My vote for the new Kurgan would have been the Hound.
