The Witch
Hereditary
Let the Right One In

I wouldn't argue with either of those three

The ring
session 9
let me in
It follows
the witch
the wailing
hereditary
Don’t Breathe
I’m not really a big horror fan, and these made an impression.

I haven't thought about Session 9 in a long time. Great movie, and the source of one of the greatest gifs in the history of the internet.

Original Let The Right One In was best.

Best FILM is probably Let the Right One In

As others have said, the original Let the Right One In is horrifying on multiple levels. How can a movie that has such an uplifting character arc be so disturbing?

But the movie dangles just enough to let you know, She/He has done this before. He/She will do this again. And yes, the vague gender thing is actually spot on with this movie and not some SJW crusade.

Drag Me to Hell, Insidious, Sinister, and Paranormal Activity are the only ones I even vaguely remember watching from the last 20 years.

I guess I give the nod to Paranormal Activity. Outside of the goofy ending it had a couple of scenes that were deeply unsettling.

I would say I was 12-15 when the Ring and then the Grudge came out. Scared the shite out of me.

I’ll be honest, I thought The With was shite

Spoilers

It would have been way better as a movie about Puritan paranoia and the power of fear

Instead there ended up being real witches.

Also having a Goat named Black Phillip is like asking to have an evil goat

And then the fricking devils shows up and is like “say girl you like butter?”

fricking butter?

i'm going to add a few (mostly international or lower budget)

I Saw the Devil
The Wailing
A Dark Song
The Void
Baskin
The Kill List
Contracted

if we're including horror-comedy

Tucker and Dale v. Evil
What We Do in the Shadows

some movies were trendsetters or genre reboots and need mention

Hostel
Saw
V/H/S
28 days later

i don't think any of these have been mentioned. i'm going to feel silly later when i remember some to add

I told my sister she should watch it when she had to review a foriegn drama film for one of her classes. I told her it was a Japanese love story.

I'm no longer allowed to offer movie recommendations
