It is considered by Star Trek fans (non-Kurtzman Trek) as one of the best Star Trek movies ever. Usually falling at No. 2 or 3 of all ST films.

I've never seen it. At what age would it be appropriate for kids?

I don't know what rating it got prior to release but it's pretty tame language wise and nothing kids won't hear on many network shows today. There's battle scenes and the occasional death during combat situations but it's not over the top or gory by any means.

ETA: Quick google check showed it was rated PG.

I was on the phone on a late night call with a business partner in Japan when the movie came on. It was playing muted, but I was interested because I was trying to figure out who the blonde was. When the call ended, I turned on the sound and watched the rest of it. I loved it, and I remember thinking people would laugh at me if I started telling everyone how good that movie was.

It was on Pluto last night and I got sucked back in.

It’s got some language and Sigourney’s top is barely existent at the end of the movie.

There are a few sexual innuendos in there. Especially with aliens.

I wouldn’t let a 5 year watch it but a 10 year old sure.

No worse language than you'd hear on network TV in today's environment.

So, no movies for your little ones that take place on beaches with women in bikinis????

Inuendo is probably not going to pique a kid under 10's sexual curiosity as it is more than likely over their head, but likely can if 10 or older.

whoah there buddy.

i was just answering that it's not truly a kids movie and gave some specifics.

i love it. both my kids have seen it. I just think some of the language and jokes are better suited for a 10 year old than a 5 year old.

Sigourney Weaver looked so hot and she was perfect.

The fact that she was 50 was nuts. By far the hottest she’d ever been

She is a legend and sexy in her own right way but by no means “Hollywoood” sexy and I agree with this. She’s a stunner in this one.

Funnier if you're familiar with original Star Trek, at all.

One of my favorite lines from the movie is when Allen is fighting the rock monster, and Rockwell’s suggestion is to:
