I'd never seen the Leftovers until I heard enough good things abotu it finally wanted to see what the fuss was about so watched that whole series very recently, I think like two or three months ago. IMO, LOST is far superior

FTR I didn't say I didn't enjoy the leftovers...I very much did. Solid show. No issues recommending it to others.
I just think LOST is better simply due to the character attachment which is pretty much unrivaled by anything else I've ever watched before or since.

The Leftovers is a good show but honestly , it is not even in the same league as LOST
Posted on 8/26/25 at 3:14 pm to WG_Dawg
we could never get another lost because they cast 3 smoke shows as the lead women (for season 1 at least)

Without posting spoilers…
People that misinterpret the ending confuse me.
There is literally exposition during the ending explaining the ending. It’s not hard to get.
I agree with OML, as one of the original Losties on the board, it’s not about the mysteries. The mysteries were just ways to move the present day story along. The real story was the growth of the characters.
And now I need to rewatch…

It was fun, but it was 6 years. It was a long ride. I think that is why there were more emotional responses to the finale and last season, because of the time involved.
Knocking it out all at once, I think you can make a better judgement of the show without emotion getting in the way.
Also, once you finish the show, there is an official Epilogue you need to watch. Don't go to the link below until you finish the show. It is awesome and a lot of people didn't see it because it was released the next year after the show had ended.
The New Man in Charge
A lot of Alabamians don't realize this but Michael Emerson (Ben Linus) got his start with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival program...

Watching lost makes me harken back to a time when movies and TV shows were unique, original pieces of artwork that had realistic acting, dialogue, practical effects, and impeccable world building. All of that is gone now due to the corporatization of film and TV show producer companies. We will never witness an era of TV shows like that ever again and anyone who argues otherwise is fricking delusional.

Agree. It was sorta like the 70's rock and roll era. Its just something that time and man had not fricked up yet and it was pure. The internet was still somewhat new for discussions and it was fun still. Way before every single thing was trolls or politics. There were some great discussions.
The show itself was about dragging you in and keeping you there. Not this bullshite we have now

Shows like LOST took an idea and just kept building the story. Most shows today take an idea or existing story that should last maybe a season and just drag and drag it out. It’s all just so much fluff.
There are still good ones though. I think Severance is building the story just like LOST did. I’m excited every show to see where it’s going.

It’s kind of interesting that iwy and I have such similar tastes usually, but he’s not a Lost or huge Severance fan. I personally love Lost, Severance and The Leftovers.

Don't know how much longer AUvet has left, but I found this and it is alternate endings so it won't spoil anything (it's spoofs so it really is ok to watch). I never saw this before. Pretty funny. Excuse the Kimmel content.

IMO, LOST is far superior. Granted it's much easier to digest because it's MUCH shorter so that's nice, I suppose.
LOST is "MUCH shorter" than the Leftovers? Am I misreading this??
But yes, LOST is tenfold better than the Leftovers. Leftovers was good, but just good. And each season got progressively worse and more stupid. It's a good show though...even really good at times. But it's no LOST for me.
And this is 100% accurate:

Also, without getting into spoilers, if anyone out there claims LOST gets negative points and isn't rewatchable and sucked at the end for not answering every question, they damn well better also have the same talking points about the leftovers.

I missed the season 2 finale and was pretty upset about it. I was part of a Lost fan MySpace group and I asked if there was another way to catch it. Some random arse stranger was like "I'll mail you a VHS copy" and he most certainly did.

LOL. That is awesome. Things were certainly different. When I bought my tackle company, the guys that owned it before me were in Alabama. They would get orders by phone call or emails from people and just send out the orders with a invoice in the box. No kidding. To people they didnt know to who knows where. During the 90's when they owned it, they told me that only a handful of very small orders never got checks sent in the mail.
Just crazy. Of course I immediately put a stop to that nonsense as soon as I took it over.
Good story and very believable. Lost really captivated people before the onslaught of tv series got to rolling. It was great times.

The "it's" I was referring to was leftovers, I probably worded it horribly. Leftovers is much shorter and easier to binge through.

Definitely one of the better shows I have seen. I would have to agree that the main characters are some of the more closely followed in any series I have seen. I thought the ending was appropriate and it tied everything back together pretty well. I know it took me 4 months to watch it but I can’t imagine having to wait and the anticipation of weekly episodes

Well, I WAS a huge LOST fan. Just the final season killed it for me. At least killed the ability to have any desire to rewatch a show I really liked. I have no problem that people still enjoy the show. It's a quality show. I just get a little annoyed on TD because one of the ways people defend the show is by saying "they really didn't leave much of anything unanswered" and that's just being purposefully obtuse. When much of the intrigue is built on the weirdness and then you don't answer so much weirdness, it bothers me. Probably part of the reason I love The Leftovers so much because it's like he learned his lesson.
As for Severance, I am a huge fan of Severance. I recommend to that to everyone possible and it's one of the best shows on tV in recent memory. I just don't like talking about Severance on tigerdroppings
